I think $7 is a little bit of an exaggeration. Not to mention the President doesn't really control the price of gas, it's a global commodity.

I don't understand why environmentalists would be against the pipeline. It's not going to prevent the oil from being extracted, it's just going to force it to be shipped in more energy intensive ways like by train or truck.
