This is more about forcing China to either become a real Capitalist nation, or go back to being a shithole nation.

Hopefully, when the release is unintentional, we won't get a super-smallpox, or super-polio instead of what basically amounts to a really nasty flu.

Lends a whole new meaning to the term 'OK Boomer.'

Hrm. I bet someone could make that into a decent meme.

The Libtards will be even happier if conservatives refuse the checks, because that will create a discrepancy in recovery rates for lower income families.

If you are offered a check, take it. Not taking it is simply cutting off your nose to spite your face.

After you take the check, if you really don't need it, donate it to a charity or to a based politician, or something.

Obviously, when the Democrats discover that they have no viable candidate, they will have to pick Hilliary.

Definitely not planned. Nope.

I agree with most of what you say. To the point that arguing against the little bit of difference between us would be annoying and not worth the time for either of us.

The only point I will make is that once we get to a point where the critical needs of all humans can be met by an industry that is fully automated, Socialism might work. Think Star Trek technology levels. A pill to regrow a kidney. Food molecularly assembled. Etc. Until humans can meet basic needs without requiring some sort of 'low labor' human work force, Socialism is a farce.

Do not confuse greed with a desire to rob from the rich and give to the poor.

If he really believed in Socialism, he wouldn't have been kicked out of a hippie commune for being too lazy.

Why would you pollute the environment like that?

Heh. Was there a jump in the stock market when he dropped out?

Centrist Dems are Blue Dog Democrats. They do exist. They just don't have a Democrat party any more.

Interesting. I was not aware that there were enough Lupus sufferers for a study this large.

Most rational people who called themselves Liberals before around 2000 or so have realized that the Left has moved so far that we have more in common with Conservatives.

I have voted Democrat in the past. I voted for Obama the FIRST time, which will be the last time I vote for a Democrat until / unless the Democratic party de-tards itself.

I strongly suspect that if we can smash the Democrats in the next election, the Democrats will fall apart into a Socialist Party and a Centrist Democrat party.

There are precedents. If I am not mistaken Typhoid Mary was eventually jailed because she kept traveling from place to place and working as a waitress, starting new outbreaks every time.

Everything has weaknesses.

Science has the weakness that it is impossible to prove a negative, and there are still aspects of the Universe we do not yet fully understand.

Religion has the weakness that it is based on faith rather than hard facts.

I had that happen to me once. It was funny. When I explained that I was 49, and not a boomer, another idiot quoted me with question marks, so I shut them down by saying that just because I am older, less ignorant, and capable of thinking for myself doesn't make me a boomer.

And this is with Democrats actively working to prevent people from getting access to medicines that actually work.

I wonder if anyone is considering class action lawsuits against the governors who made prescribing hydroxychloroquine for Covid19 illegal?

I respect your faith. Sometimes I wish I could allow myself to believe in a deity, but I am incapable of believing in something without evidence.

Religions tend to be very conservative because they have a great deal of institutional inertia.

They still change over time. My father was left handed and went to a Christian school. They smacked his left hand with a ruler whenever he tried to use it. I think most of us, even the religious folks, can agree today that the left hand is not the hand of Satan.

I think that there are two types of conservatives. Those that base their conservative nature on religion, and those that base their conservative nature on science and provable facts.

I tend to have issues with anyone putting restrictions or expectations on me, based on their interpretation of what some guys wrote a couple thousands of years ago. A lot of the moral teachings of the more benevolent religions make a great deal of sense, but I cannot follow a spiritual being that is unwilling or unable to prove it's own existence irrefutably to me, to my standards. If they are all powerful and all knowing, then proving their existence to me would be no effort at all.

As for the LGBTQRSTUVXYZ community, IMHO, you have the right to believe what you want, as long as it is between consenting adults.

Shrug I believe a core part of being conservative is minding your own business and letting other people live their lives.

I consider it to be like the national oil reserves.

States should still be responsible for stockpiling (or having their own printers) but the fed could also be a backup.

Bioterrorism is a growing threat. I think we need to be better prepared to face it, dynamically.

I would argue that at least some degree of near-instant production of basic emergency equipment is within the role of the Federal government. It would fall under the heading of defending the people.

Ideally, the same facility would also print materials for the armed forces.

Could it be run by private enterprises? Sure, why not. The military has plenty of contractors already.
