What do you mean dissapear you? Are you talking about abduction? Or just shadow banning?
If that is the case, what sort of reprisals should I expect if I order then read the now unavailable Dr Seuss books from an alternative store?
Anyway this is besides the point, the government has no part in the Actions of Amazon. So the idea that its somehow illegal to read certain books is just wrong.
Gonna need a source that no company will publish a book that cant be sold on Amazon.
Also there is a thing called self publishing.
Do you genuinely believe that if you go and read a book amazon doesnt want to associate itself with you are going to be punished by them somehow?
Why would Amazon care if you read a book they don't sell?
How would Amazon legally punish a private citizen for reading a book that Amazon has decided not to sell?
Publicly traded companies are private property held by members of the public who are private citizens, so even if they are a monopoly it doesn't really matter, because then they should be broken up, and they will still have the agency to choose which books to sell.
Feels like a bit of a weak argument, what does supporting something mean?
Because we consume the media provided by the NFL and then don't when they do something woke. Boycotting also isnt soley commercial it can involve withdrawing social relation. So it could be argued that the left was supporting Pepe Le Pew (or whatever) by having it as something that is socially acceptable to talk about and that they withdrew that support (boycotted) by cancelling it.
I was playing devils advocate.......
But there is a difference between starting a book store that delivers any book you want and forcing every private bookstore to sell all books.
They key is you want to supply every book I dont imagine a evangelist bookshop would like having to sell "How to raise a child as a Homosexual couple"
Playing devil's advocate here but someone on the left could say the same about the Dr Seuss books that have racist images in them.
Allowing private businesses to decide what products to supply is a slippery slope?
I don't think you would expect a smaller privately owned bookshop to stock a book on Queer Trans Feminist Theory if they didnt want to.
If you really want to read said books, go to your local public library and ask for them to order it.
Ummm, those are just examples of a private company not wanting to associate itself with certain books. Doesn't have anything to do with the government banning said books.
I think this is a bit of strawman, the examples shown are of high ranking members of terrorist groups, the cannon fodder that they use for their suicide bombings and terror attacks are largely uneducated, unemployed men and boys.
For the latter education is definitely something that could lead them from a different path.
Is it just me or is this basically just cancel culture?
Im not aware of any books that US citizens aren't allowed to read.
What? Heroin is not legal in California. And even if it was, legalisation taxation and regulation is the best way to fight against the cartels.
Just send your money directly Steve Bannon's wallet. He'll make sure it goes to the right place.
Most of the time executions are just life sentences that have their costs increased dramatically due to the legal process that needs to be undertaken when deciding the fate of a human life.
Taking into account that most sentences to execution are overturned and that you will eventually kill an innocent person, the death penalty just doesnt make any sense.
Sure technically execution is a life sentence but not of your natural life.
And the latter is true, executions are incredibly expensive due to the number of appeals and court trials that need to take place before said execution. Not to mention the increasing challenge of obtaining the correct drugs required.
I already have them, I bought 4 copies of "If I ran a zoo" when I heard they were getting pulled.
