I was going to vote in Coweta County GA today. Line was over an hour Long and it’s not even the after work crowd yet. (for the general there was no line and there were 3x as many machines for the general too, now I can understand the voter suppression arguments for line length.)
I’m next in line, ID in hand, and a poll worker says they need to empty out the room so she can get a count. Ok weird. I thought. I stand there while she tries to explain this to the other poll workers who at first seemed very confused then just shrug “ok.”
She goes around and by hand on a little notepad records some numbers from every machine, check in station, and paper scanner (Dominion of course.)
It felt very wrong for some reason. The little old retiree poll worker by the door told me she has been doing his for 20 years and, when I asked, said they’ve never stopped (15 to 20 minute complete room clear of voters) to take a “count” like this before. I pulled out my phone to text my hombres about this weirdness and all the ladies at the check in station start yelling at me to put my phone away.
All in all a very strange experience from a place I’ve voted many times. I don’t quite know what to make of it and wanted to share it here. Thanks.
TLDR. Poll worker stops voting for 20min and clears whole polling room with over an hour long wait to get a “count” and make a phone call before allowing us to resume voting.
