A coup.

People should be hung for treason over this.

I am so happy to hear about your recovery. I went through something similar as well.

Oh I didn't even think of that. Nice!

True, but they stopped in 2019 and Tesla Motors have paid the earlier government loan back in full 9 years ahead of schedule.

That's quite rare. So rare in fact that it has never happened before.

He is as much a socialist as he acts like a socialist. None.

The way he runs his companies is pretty much as free market capitalist as humanely possible. That's why he is so successful and literally the reason why he moved to the US (aside from dodging mandatory military service in Africa)

A reasonably moderate opinion? The air feels fresh here.

Sure, Elon is not a conservative, but that is not a prereguisite or a requirement for being "redpilled". Most of us who were "redpilled" at some point came from the left or the center.

In Elon's defence he isn't pushing any identity on the child. Biology is what determines a child's gender identity so he is going to grow up like a boy and end up liking boy things.

I mean it is pretty much a fact that if you give children the freedom to choose, they will choose what is often the traditional gender roles and interests. Boys will be boys.

I definitely agree that our exponentially growing technology, reliance on it and the blind application to every aspect of our lives have veered us into a place that is already quite scary and hollow. There's definitely something about all of it that feels really wrong and misplaced.

I remember the feeling of awe (atheist at the time) that I got from walking into a +1000 year old stone church in Chezh Republic. The place had been turned into a tourist attraction, but still there was something ancient lingering in those old stone walls and high ceilings that shook me deep to my core. All the art, the craftmanship, the work, the labor and the dedication that had been spent on those old stones felt impossible. Like out of this world. I couldn't believe humans could do all of that with their bare hands and crude tools...and only for the love of God.

I felt a sense of meaning and purpose while in that space that I had never felt anywhere else before and when I walked out of the old church...everything outside in the modern world felt like fake paper facades and hollow self indulgence. As I was walking back to my hotel and saw the tall spires vanish behind modern buildings, it felt like I was losing sight of something much greater than just an old stone building. It felt like I was walking further from a place of real purpose.

I hope we never lose places like that, because they have the power to make even staunch atheists doubt.

God bless.

I completely understand.

Just out of curiosity (not trying to debate you): Are you opposed to LASIK surgery, cochlear implants, pacemakers or other surgery modifications that treat, help or modify the body in some way to just improve the quality of life, birth defects and/or an injuries?

Not an atheist or even an agnostic.

I'm simply stating the fact that if the left is the only side that embraces transhumanism (and it becomes a reality), they will dominate, take over and replace ALL of us completely and indefinitely. We will become obsolete, inferior, dumber, slower, weaker and...more dead.

It's a matter of simple survival.

There needs to be a way to adopt transhumanist philosophies into right wing ideals, conservatism and religion. I don't think it is impossible.

It can be done without sucking the devil's cock. It has to...or our kind are not going to exist for long.

The thing is: if someone ever actually manages to make cybernetic cognitive enhancements a reality, everyone that is not with it WILL be left behind and lose on practically every front and area imaginable. The same goes for genetic engineering.

These are areas that have the potential to be even more revolutionary than the invention of firearms was for warfare. China at the time did not take firearms seriously and they were subsequentily conquered and occupied for centuries because of it.

Don't get left behind in the stone age. Adapt.

Sure. You could however argue that it is not necessarily a contradiction in the sense that you could possibly manifest that missing drive in other ways than just through the necessity to generate capital.

Cultural and/or social rank could be one (meaning you would be seen even more of an utter deadbeat if you had no passion, discipline and/or drive).

FinnishNationalist 2 points ago +2 / -0

The way I understood Joe is that he is in favor of UBI because of the freedom that it gives people to pursue avenues and tasks that truly interest them, but he also points out that being given everything for free some people lose the drive that they need to better themselves and their craft.

It's like having a sailboat with a working rudder to go anywhere they like, but having no wind to push them. You have more freedom, but potentially less purpose and/or drive to act on it. So actually moving forward becomes even harder for some people and they are stuck in idle water.

3
FinnishNationalist 3 points ago +3 / -0

True. Plus the tests that we've done here in Finland did not improve people's motivation to work, it just made people feel less stressed out.

There are some minor positive ramifications to improving people's perceived levels of anxiety and stress (like health), but it wasn't a sustainable model long-term.

5
FinnishNationalist 5 points ago +5 / -0

Devil's advocate: Joe's rationalization of UBI being a "moral/philosophical good" and the fact that people often do need a push in order to improve, are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

For example: It is still morally good to treat and heal a suicidial patient or a smoker.

Some non-political subreddits - where that rule is heavily enforced - are still ok.
