I have Not gotten sick tired of winning, and doubt that I ever will.
Since DSC decided to donate money to a terrorist organization (BLM), I figured I would make a post of info on what I do for shaving. I did post this in the thread that I saw it in, but figured a real post would be good as well. Help me get the word out fellow Pedes, so we can make DSC go broke.
In short, shave like your father or grandfather did. Use a safety razor. The razors themselves are super cheap, and the handle lasts forever (my father still uses the same handle, which he got from his father). The brush also lasts a long time, but the bristles eventually need to be replaced. If you get a really good one you can do that, but in this day it is likely easier to buy anew brush. The soap has a higher up-front cost, but you get a lot more shaves out of it (to the tune of hundreds, no joke). Finally, you need a case to put used blades in, so you don't cut yourself or someone else on them. (They are still very sharp, after they have gotten dull enough to start pulling.)
Seems costly at first, but I started doing this in 2016. Still the same Handle, Brush, and box of Blades. I have had to get more soap 3 times so far. I have coarse, wiry, thick facial hair, and I shave every single day. It really is just pennies per shave.
Note: If you go this route, there IS a different technique you have to learn. Modern blades do 90% of the work for you; that is what you are paying for. I'll like The Art of Manliness explain.
Finally, you can make the individual blades last longer by rinsing them in rubbing alcohol instead of water. It raises the cost of each shave tho, so it is a cost benefit analysis you'll have to make.
