So far this year, 2.39 million Americans have died of all causes. At the same point in both 2018 and 2019, it was 2.17 million. The difference nearly matches the reported number of COVID-19 victims.
Can somebody please explain the graphs showing excess mortality being around 300,000? Doesn't that mean there were 300,000 more dead this year than the trend would predict?
I think you're mistaken.
The CDC has weekly total deaths listed and we're up a lot this year in total deaths.
