Both BEV and ICE have pyrotechnic disconnects for their 12V and their fuel pump / high voltage connection in the event of crashes.
Most of the well-publicized BEV fires were stationary at the time. They're obviously worrying and are heavily investigated to determine root cause. But they're reported more widely because they're an emerging technology associated with an eccentric figure. Don't mistake that with ICE cars being comparatively fireproof. ICE cars are literally running on carefully timed controlled explosions.

The physical mechanism of voting and counting in Canada does work better than in the USA. It is simpler. But that does not mean that Canada has a better political system than America.
It can be simpler, because in Canada there is less representation and separate (offsetting) elections for all three levels of government. That's how they can hand Canadians a ballot as simple and real as the one in the Twitter photo.
Think of Canada as only ever voting for the house, their state house, or the mayor and city councillor. Canadians don't vote for sheriff, senator, or state senator. They also don't directly vote for the executive. The executive is the leader of the majority party in the legislature. Parliament is still bicameral, but the senate is appointed by the executive. The only check is the figurehead Governor-General, giving royal assent to law (lol).
That said, when voting in Cuckada, you present ID, it's checked against the rolls, you can be added on the spot with proof of residency (e.g., utility bill). They don't do that great of a job at confirming citizenship but there are way fewer illegals. You are handed a piece of paper with about 5 names. You simply mark a large X on any one name's corresponding circle. You come back and put your own ballot in the box. At the end of the night, the votes are handcounted and scrutinized simultaneously. Any ballots with multiple markings do not count.
