I think it's unfortunate that Californians get a reputation for voting for these people and wanting to bring their garbage to other states. That's not what is happening. Every single person I've talked to that moved away this year cited dysfunctional government as their reason.
The people fleeing blue states should be treated as fellow countrymen unless proven otherwise.
I have no doubt that the reason for tyranny's unmitigated success in California is their elaborate system for denying US citizens their right to bear arms. You can't get 30 round magazines for your musket, but the cops can. You can't have 17 rounds in your Glock, but the criminal robbing you on the street can. You can't go out and buy a gun the same day your abusive ex threatens to kill you, but criminals can drop into Oaktown and get what they need in less time than it takes Nancy Pelosi to finish a pint of $13 ice cream.
The poop app was more for novelty. There is a city-run 311 app that you used to be able to use to anonymously report problems created by the homeless (encampments, defecating on the sidewalk, open air drug use) but now they make you call the land line for the police department if you want them to do anything about it. And when you call it's very obvious that they are adding your personal info to a database of "troublemakers"
Reason 1 was job. Silicon Valley used to be where you had to be in order to progress. Now my company no longer requires us to be physically present in SF. So scratch that.
Reason 2 was girls. There is some fine ass in this city if you know where to look. However, COVID killed the dating scene, so scratch reason 2
Reason 3 is weather. I’ve travelled throughout most of the US and I still love California weather. You just can’t beat it. Especially the Bay Area.
So yes, you’re essentially correct now.
It’s not that people aren’t aware of the problem. It’s that people have given up fighting because they think their voice doesn’t matter. And based on the mountain of voter fraud evidence out there now, it looks like that’s true in every Democrat run city.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, I work in the tech industry, though not for the censors. I can’t tell you how widespread the message is getting within the industry because it’s so dangerous to come out as even mildly conservative in this town. Way too easy to get cancelled so nobody risks talking about it IRL.
What brought me to the other side? I can’t think of one specific event. It started back in March/April when I bought my first gun. After experiencing how difficult CA made it for me to exercise my god given right to self defense, I started questioning everything.
Then the “protesters” came in June. I live downtown and witnessed Antifa violence and destruction a few hundred yards from my apt. The cops just sat there and watched, following orders I’m sure.
Then this election... I’ve never yelled so much at the tv in my life. So. Much. Fuckery. So many blatant lies.
As a resident of SF, I can tell you the problem is defeatism more than liberalism. Nobody votes for these people or their shitty policies. California hasn’t had a free & fair election since the 2000’s.
