Yeah, man. I got lucky. I went down there just KNOWING I was going to jail, but it never happened. Someone was looking out for me!
Well. I got away with it. I was actually dreading going down there, knowing full well I'll probably get arrested and not be able to watch my daughter, but God was looking after me.
The concourse is about a quarter mile long. I got in with everyone else and started walking down the concourse. EVERYONE was staring at me. The closer I got to the entrance to the tournament, the more stares I got. I was almost in line when a black security guard told me to put a mask on. I told him I had a medical exemption. He said I needed to put on a mask anyway. I shook my head and said no. He goes, "You ain't gonna put one on"? I said no. He goes "okay, you come with me then". I was thinking, "here we go"....he goes and gets a cop, I see him talking to the cop, telling him what was going on. The cop looks at me and walks over. He says, "sir, what's going on". I told him I informed the security gurard that I had a medical exemption. The cop looks at the security guard and says, "It's not a state law. I can't enforce it". Security guard throws his hands up and walks away. I thanked the cop and got in line, continued to get stares. The official checking me in asked about my mask, I said I had a medical exemption. Nothing else said.
I walked around for three days, getting asked every 20 minutes to put my mask on. Never wore it once.
On the last day, we're leaving the facility and I purposely choose the exit the original security guard/mask nazi was working and walked out his door. I pointed to him and said "Thanks for everything this weekend, son"....he just ignored me. LOL.
