We can make all the comparisons we want, but it really comes down to one difference - Bob and Sue who run the corner shop that was looted don't have the ability to impeach or punish anyone. Congressmen and women who were threatened do.
Congress and politicians don't care about you and me. They only throw up their hands when they are personally attacked.
