In our system, the accused have the right to review the evidence you are presenting against them well before the actual trial. Love it or hate, that's how it works. I have nothing against Pence, if anything I'm defending him from the inevitable hate he gets from people who don't understand he can't do anything to stop it. He can't choose to be a turncoat, and he can't change the results. Only the senate and the house combined can.

First, they'll retreat in unmapped tunnels. So at best, a historic building will probably get trashed and the meeting will take place virtually at a later date, and nothing will be achieved.
But, let's say I'm wrong again and you're correct, they storm the place and capture all senators and all house members from both sides of the isle. Do you think the military/police will just let armed civilians start making demands of elected officials at gunpoint with total impunity just because they're Americans? The short answer is... no. People acting like a VP can just decide who wins really don't think too hard about the kind of chaos that would cause in American history if it were actually true. They act like house democrats are going to be intimidated by a march, or people are just gonna storm into the building and force democrats to vote the way they want at gunpoint.
To get votes tossed you have to have a majority in the house and senate, otherwise the governor certified results get counted.
