It's akin to why you should never talk to the police – ironically, the footage you keep to protect yourself from the feds may just be the very footage they will hold in their hands knocking on your door. Anything you give up control of can and will be used against you, in ways you shouldn't assume you can predict or outsmart.
If it's in the cloud, you've given up control of it.
Chances are it's stored on Amazon, Google, or Microsoft servers, even if you're unaware.
Or chances are your cloud service provider is in a Fourteen Eyes country.
Or chances are someone in your chain of trust is China-friendly or compromised by China inadvertently.
If it's not US-friendly, it's not you-friendly.
Blackmail controls the world. It's a pillar of China's BGY program. Got a little steamy with your wife in front of one of your cameras once? Great, now you're compromised. Just make sure not to run for office ever, or dissent in any way, and you'll be fine.
Spying is an automated process, and data is analyzed by AI. Having cameras in your home, and trusting anyone with their data, is providing ammunition for Big Tech, national intelligence, and international adversaries, anyone who may ever need any dirt on you.
