Political interest is not black and white, pede. For all intents and purposes, it would serve you well not to assume anything about what is and isn't in the interest of any global player at any time, now or in the future. It's akin to why you should never talk to the police – ironically, the footage you keep to protect yourself from the feds may just be the very footage they will hold in their hands knocking on your door. Anything you give up control of can and will be used against you, in ways you shouldn't assume you can predict or outsmart.

If it's in the cloud, you've given up control of it.

Chances are it's stored on Amazon, Google, or Microsoft servers, even if you're unaware.

Or chances are your cloud service provider is in a Fourteen Eyes country.

Or chances are someone in your chain of trust is China-friendly or compromised by China inadvertently.

If it's not US-friendly, it's not you-friendly.

Blackmail controls the world. It's a pillar of China's BGY program. Got a little steamy with your wife in front of one of your cameras once? Great, now you're compromised. Just make sure not to run for office ever, or dissent in any way, and you'll be fine.

Spying is an automated process, and data is analyzed by AI. Having cameras in your home, and trusting anyone with their data, is providing ammunition for Big Tech, national intelligence, and international adversaries, anyone who may ever need any dirt on you.

I appreciate your reply, and your words of wisdom. Thank you for sharing your story. Part of me bows its head in agreement with you. Another part refuses to assume a passive role in shaping my fate, because I know how scarce a woman with good values and a clarity of though is. However, being ready at all times is something your response drives home for me, and I'm grateful for your aid in wakening this mindset.

The real pandemic is a void of individual moral integrity.

Unironically: where do I look for women like you? It's close to unimaginable to me to find a woman who both cares about and comprehends these issues.

I stand corrected, thank you for taking the time to look at this. I went back and amended all of my relevant comments. Good analysis, too.

Then you would need to become your own ISP.

And then you would need to become your own governme... wait.

I understand what you mean, but this page – the one they had prior to the current design and content – was too specific for a generic parking page. Do you know if Epik allows for customization of their parking page using some basic text input and background selection? That would explain the Epik logo and trademark notice on the page of a third party.

To your point about domain registrars being salesmen, it appears that Epik may have so far stood out in their standing up for their values even when it hurt their business. With that said, I admit I'm not perfectly up to date on them, and I certainly wouldn't advocate for putting full trust in them.

Edit: I was wrong. Epik is most probably only the registrar, and the previous version of the website was a user-customized domain parking page.

It might be my misinterpretation, but based on their message to President Trump, it feels to me like they are intending to do just that:

With a grateful heart and deep appreciation for you President Trump, we make available the usage of "PatriotParty.com" and all our established rights to the "Patriot Party" as an American Political Party and Political Party Affiliation. We would be deeply honored if a member of your staff contacted us at their convenience to discuss.

The previous version of the website featured an Epik logo, and the site is definitely hosted by Epik, which makes me assume that Epik is also the owner, and they're known as good guys. This is nothing but speculation, however, you're right to point that out.

Edit: I was wrong. Epik is most probably only the registrar, and the previous version of the website was a user-customized domain parking page.

My mistake, I misinterpreted your replies. They have explicitly stated the following on their website:

Public Notice: As of November 30, 2005, we have secured through continous and specific usage superior rights in "Patriot Party", "PatriotParty" and "PatriotParty.com" as it relates to an American Political Party, Political Party Affiliation, and Political News and Commentary Resources. There are no trademarks pre-dating the establishment of our continous and specific usage.

and

Disclaimer: NO CLAIM IS MADE TO THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE "PARTY" APART FROM THE MARK AS SHOWN

IANAL, but it appears as though "continous and specific usage" is the key to their trademark claims. They have a Trademark Legal Notice on their website with more detail on their claims.
