I think it sucks that they can control our country and the minute they don't like a policy from someone we actually elect they try to kill them or up and leave the country for China. I think we need to drive some kind of civilian led weapons development programs. Obviously it won't have the same impact as a multi-billion dollar defense company in terms of technology but I think it will help us in terms of developing strategies and small arms for certain environments and situations.
We're blessed in the US with a large array of geography to test things in. We have mountains, desert, plains, swamps, rivers, lakes and foot hills and marshes. It actually helps military development in the long run to have the citizenry maintain gun rights and allow then to develop new small arms and engines that can exploit conditions in their environment. Of course That does go out the window some if it's true that we can control weather patterns. Even still there's enough variety in the US to allow that to be addressed.
Keeping weapons development in the hands of a few is going to do more harm than good in the long run. The way it works now is that if you want to cripple our weapons development or even walk away with our technology you just gather a bunch of dirt on the whole board room of a defense contractor and make demands then dump the board members that aren't with it.
If we allow citizens to develop small arms, engines and techniques and keep a moderate civic militia like attitude where we instill a sense of duty and service to country it will help maintain regional domestic security in the event major companies are compromised by international forces and defect. At least that what I think could be done. I really would like to see a good redneck howitzer developed. lol
