I lost my tuxedo cat Monty recently as well. He was only 2 years old. He was completely fine one day then the next he started having strokes and losing consciousness. We took him to the vet and they thought he’d recover at first. His condition continued to get worse and the vets didn’t know what was wrong. We had to put him down after spending almost $3000. They wanted almost another $10,000 on top of what we spent just for the tests. They told us we made the right decision. When we got the autopsy back we found out he had a very rare disease. We could only find information about it in scholarly veterinary journals. Poor guy didn’t deserve his fate. I miss that fancy boy.

My grandfather would take the dog hunting and do it himself out in the woods where the dog isn’t scared. They were poor and shotgun shells are cheaper than the vet. Honestly seems more humane too.

I’ve been saying for years antibiotics and other drugs should be available OTC. This would help poor and struggling families most of all. Right now to get antibiotics for your sick kid you gotta get off work, hope you can get a same day appointment, and then go get the prescription filled. With OTC antibiotics you can just have them in the house. Oh my kid has a sinus infection here’s a Z pak. Let’s say they didn’t actually need the antibiotics and took them anyway. Who cares? They’re just antibiotics. If Mexico can handle having antibiotics OTC so can we.
