Things need to be first be done to introduce these types of bills in ALL states with a major campaign to support it, one state after another, WITH reciprocity for findings of unconstitutionality, i.e., if S Dakota finds something unconstitutional, then the others in the defense agreement against the federal government will assume it as unconstitutional unless a supermajority can be gotten to provide review and oversight.

I bet states could get away with doing border checks under a declaration of emergency that there are many foreign nationals in the country and they were undermining the welfare and quality of life of citizens. It is only citizens that are not allowed to be stopped from traveling so simply create a national register of citizens …. something a state can request from the federal government, and then run all drivers licenses through it by a scan when people are stopped. I would be ok with stops for speeding or other infractions that were just warnings, if it meant my id is scanned for wether I am a citizen. Just the deterrent effect would solve the problem and the legislation could be designed with a mandatory expiration and "cool-down" period, i.e., no similar checks can be introduced for another 3 years.
