Im against for the following reason:
- If i watch a man kill my family member the government doesn't allow me to go find him and kill him back but the government is allowed to then kill him (i understand due process etc but its still a double standard). In short no one should be allowed to decide who lives or dies.
- Finality. Every other punishment can be corrected in some way if you got the decision wrong. If it turns out you were wrong with someone who was put to death? Oops.
- It doesn’t deter murder. Every study shows it has minimal to no impact in preventing people from murdering. This is common sense as murder has continued from the beginning of man until now. There are things that can impact murder rates but the death penalty isnt a major factor. If this is true then the death penalty can only be about retributive justice which leads me to number 4.
- I believe God when he said “Vengeance is mine, I will repay”....and i believe that vengeance will FAR outweigh any vengeance that man can dispense.
I am against the death penalty and even I don’t understand these people crying over him about to be executed....i figured “oh man there must be some good evidence that he’s innocent”....NOPE just sad cause he decided to commit double murder when he was 18....dont bother me with this....come back when youve got good evidence and innocent man is about to be killed

Im not going to recommend a denomination just find a church that preaches the scripture and not the pastors opinions....the scripture should be the bulk and basis of the sermons...they should be guiding you through the text and giving some historical context and elaboration on the themes but not using the scripture in a minimal way and then using the rest of the time to spout off their opinion on the flavor of the month..trust me its more common than you realize
