Yeah i mean you can interpret it that way and thats fine but when a statement like that is coming from the executive of the federal government and most people when get something from their country it comes from the government, its easy to see why this statement is often used to imply that it is our role to serve government which is wrong
Eh, he may have been anti-communist but this statement is garbage....i get the sentiment, but it Operates under the assumption that the people ate supposed to serve the govt but in reality govt is supposed to serve the people. I understand he says country but the implication is clear. I’m not advocating a “give me stuff please govt” attitude but this is an overrated statement. Milton Freedman pointed out the problems with it in one of his books

I see what you are saying, but if you felt like your nation was so corrupt that it was willing to spy on every American citizen and would most certainly throw you to the wolves once they realize you revealed it and paint you as a traitor to the public, why wouldn't YOU leave so you could continue to speak out and have a platform until the country you love comes to its senses and realizes it was wrong and can understand why you did what you did and accept your return?
He was going at this war alone against the most powerful nation in the history of the earth....if he stayed, he risked being silenced and as we know, possibly being killed. Sure, he could have stayed and been a martyr, but soon lost to time and possibly forgotten entirely, and the overreaches would continue largely un-noticed with Snowden's revelations relegated to conspiracy theory types bringing them up in small circles. He bet that if was able to maintain a voice elsewhere, over time his actions would be understood by most Americans who could then join him in his efforts to expose the wrongs thereby making his efforts larger and stronger and therefore less likely to die a quiet death at the hands of time and eventually could return to the country he loves with a government that has been held accountable by not just him but the public at large.

Sometimes that happens due to the format changes when it gets uploaded. Same kind of thing would happen at my work when we sent an excel file from a mac to a person with PC...even though it was still excel sometimes it changes stuff.
Ya know, its funny, i was in a small touristy town and walked into an artsy shop where everything was organic and handmade and the girl working there had dreds and 20+ piercings and looked like she hadnt showered in a while and im thinking in all likelihood i know the political leanings of this shop and its owners....and then there on the shelf by the register is Black Rifle Coffee bags for sale....and i thought huh thats odd they would carry this...now it doesnt seem so odd.
