Our Christmas present was a ‘cluster’ on the northern beaches. So the state government wants to cancel everything. Premiere Gladys is looking like she dropped her ice cream in every media photo - why? She got busted for having been (over the course of years) in a relationship with a corrupt former member of parliament and now she’s on a sympathy drive with the help of our pathetic legacy media outlets.
Anyway, tbh the shutdowns in Sydney have come as a relief to a significant portion of the population (mostly, but not exclusively, the ones who still have work, of course). Living in Sydney had turned into the dreaded treadmill - big time. Overpopulated, public transport not coping, inflated house prices and cost of living, rampant corruption. When JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments stop in March, when the homeless are kicked out of their free accomodation, when the size of this shutdown fuckup is truly appreciated, then you might start to see a reaction from Aussies. Our populations are small and disparate across an entire continent though, so any mass movements/uprisings will be pretty difficult and ineffectual imho.
We need new political parties. New options.
