This is what I was thinking might happen. People who are in the middle, not really into politics, would look at this expecting Biden to look presidential, and then he calls Trump a clown and tells him to shut up. Then they would think well I know how things will be with Trump since I've seen the last 4 years, I'll stick with Trump. Like I said last night, Biden didn't win any normies over. the TDS sufferers would still vote Biden even if he had come on stage in a pink poodle costume singing a jingle bells and playing a ukelele.

That is a good analysis. Totally agree, it was less about Trump winning fence sitters but more about showing Biden to be a week candidate. Did you notice at the end when the wives came up, i was waiting to see Biden walk, and jill held his hand and almost looked like she was guiding him off stage....

Well to be honest I really wanted Trump to talk more about his accomplishments, but if his goal was to make sure Biden didn't look like a good alternative for those that are not on the Trump train and not sure about Biden I think he succeeded. Biden didn't come off a winner at all.
Personally, I don't think Trump necessarily won over the undecided people, but I don't think Biden did either. If anything, Trump prevented Biden from looking like a good candidate, and if anything those that don't like either of them will probably look at the last 4 yrs and figure well 4 more of Trump can't be bad and probably sit it out. In other words, while I wish Trump would have been clearer on his accomplishments Biden just looked like a cranky old man.
I think so too, it would probably actually be a normal discussion of ideas.... and it would be clear who doesn't have any.......

honestly, that is what I am worried about. If he doesn't do anything majorly stupid in those 90 minutes it will appear that he is an acceptable candidate to the clueless. I'm really hoping that Trump makes him go off script and it's game on.
