Phil Murphy will go unchallenged in this year’s Democratic gubernatorial primary after administrative law judges Tuesday said his two would-be challengers should be tossed off the ballot for failing to get enough voter signatures on their petitions.(snip) The Democratic State Committee charged that McCormick’s campaign used voter data to automatically fill petitions without the voters’ knowledge. There were at least two petitioners who were dead when they allegedly signed their support for McCormick’s campaign, some names were misspelled and others had moved out of the state

Military Junta Reportedly Seizes George Soros Foundation's Bank Accounts By C. Douglas Golden Published April 10, 2021 at 11:20am
"The military junta in Myanmar has detained an official from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and has frozen the billionaire financier’s bank accounts in the country under the suspicion that the group funded elements opposed to the February coup in the country, according to news reports.
The coup came after the party of controversial pro-democracy campaigner and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi won a landslide victory in the November elections, Reuters reported on March 16.
Alleging election fraud, the country’s powerful military, known as the Tatmadaw, seized power and arrested Suu Kyi.
In the immediate aftermath of the coup, during mass civil disobedience in the country, the Global New Light of Myanmar — a military propaganda newspaper — alleged that Open Society Myanmar withdrew $1.4 million from its account at the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank, or SMED, according to Reuters.
That money then was exchanged into the local currency, the kyat; the military newspaper said this was done “without following the necessary rules and regulations.”

The newspaper also published a picture of Suu Kyi with Soros from 2016 in New York and claimed she had met several times with the Hungarian-born American left-wing philanthropist, the Financial Times reported.
According to The Irrawaddy, government officials took control of $3.81 million and 375 million kyats in Open Society Myanmar accounts at four private banks, including SMED.
SMED itself also finds itself in trouble with the government for letting Open Society Myanmar withdraw the $1.4 million and deposit $5 million even though it hadn’t obtained approval from authorities.
The government announced it also was looking for 11 other Open Society Myanmar (OSM) officials to interrogate them, according to Reuters.

As for evidence of whether this money actually was withdrawn, deposited or spent on civil disobedience causes, that’s entirely lacking.
“Claims of financial misconduct against OSM staff are completely false with no legal basis, and we call for the immediate release of OSM’s finance manager Phyu Pa Pa Thaw,” Binaifer Nowrojee, OSM’s vice president for organizational transformation, told the Financial Times.
“The military is wrongfully pursuing staff members who have done nothing wrong and have, in fact, spent years working to improve healthcare, education and more for the people of Myanmar,” she continued. “These false allegations are evidently an attempt to distract from what is really happening and to discredit those who wish for a return to peace and democracy in Myanmar.”
In a separate emailed statement on March 16, the Open Society Foundations insisted none of the transactions were illegal and demanded the release of its worker, according to Reuters.
“The Open Society Foundations are deeply concerned by reports that an OSM (Open Society Myanmar) staff member has been detained in Myanmar,” the statement read.

“We call for her immediate release. We are alarmed by reports that authorities are seeking to interrogate other staff members.”
“Claims of financial misconduct, including that OSM acted illegally by withdrawing their own funds in local currency from the [SMED] bank, are false,” the letter continued.
“Claims that OSM used these funds for illegal purposes are false. These funds were used for purposes fully within the objectives of OSM.”
It was unclear whether the “objectives of OSM” included allying with and giving aid to demonstrators and opposition forces in Myanmar, which have been demanding the release of Suu Kyi and the recognition of her victory in November.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Suu Kyi’s party, the National League for Democracy, won 396 out of 476 seats, compared with only 33 for the military’s party. While the military’s allegations of fraud were Myanmar’s Union Election Commission, the generals seized power in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.
Suu Kyi is a controversial figure in international circles, having defended the military’s alleged genocide and displacement of several ethnic groups, including the majority-Muslim Rohingya, as part of a security operation.
Her defenders have claimed her refusal to condemn the action is because whatever democracy Myanmar has exists at the grace of the military — as the coup proved.
Protests in Myanmar have been ongoing since February, with 612 dead as of Thursday morning, according to The Irrawaddy. The latest clashes happened in the northwest portion of the country, where they reported dozens of civilians were killed in two separate clashes with military forces.
In Taze Township, 11 were killed and 30 injured Wednesday evening into Thursday morning when protesters armed with homemade firearms, slingshots and other improvised weapons were met with Tatmadaw forces who used live rounds and explosives.
The village was cleared by Thursday, with loudspeakers warning that anyone on the street would be shot.
As for the truth of the charges — whether Soros and the OSF aided the demonstrators or moved funds around illegally — it’s worth remembering the billionaire remains a bogeyman in Southeast Asia.
While Soros is a divisive figure worldwide for his activism on behalf of leftist causes and against governments or leaders he finds either distasteful or despotic — and, indeed, he often has trouble discerning the difference between the two — his investments are held by some to be one of the initial causes of the Asian financial crisis of 1997.
As Business Insider notes, the Quantum Fund, which was partially controlled by Soros, bet against Asian currencies generally and the currencies of Malaysia and Thailand specifically that year. His short-selling position on the Thai baht eventually forced the central bank to devalue its currency, which was the first domino to fall in a crisis that lasted until 1998.
Soros has argued that the baht was overvalued and that, if the central bank had just devalued it, “The adjustment would have occurred sooner and been less painful. But the authorities allowed their reserves to run down; the break, when it came, was catastrophic.”
As for the situation in Myanmar, don’t expect it to get any better, at least not in the near term.
The news outlet Nikkei Asia says Suu Kyi’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 22, although this largely is a formality. (So too, one suspects, would be any trial of an Open Society Myanmar official.)
Beijing has had discussions with both sides in the conflict and urged them to resolve it through dialogue; Myanmar is a neighbor of China’s and has been the recipient of significant Chinese investment, particularly through the so-called “Belt and Road” infrastructure plan, according to Reuters.
In the United States, the Biden administration issued sanctions against some generals in Myanmar, according to The New York Times, but there hasn’t been much substantive movement since then.
Last Sunday, President Joe Biden called the violence in Myanmar “absolutely outrageous” and said that “based on the reporting I’ve gotten, an awful lot of people have been killed totally unnecessarily,” language that’s both obvious and unlikely to move the junta, according to Deutsche Welle.
“They used explosives and automatic fire against protesters. It is unacceptable. This is not a real war,” one protester told The Irrawaddy after the military attacked demonstrators in Taze Township on Wednesday.
It looks as if no one’s efforts — be they George Soros’, Joe Biden’s or Xi Jinping’s, China’s Communist Party leader — are going to stop that ugly reality any time in the near future."

When asked by a state lawmaker if there were trends in election fraud prosecutions, White said that “have 510 offenses pending against 43 defendants in court right now,” saying it’s “for several reasons probably.” He did not elaborate. White said that about 80 percent of those pending cases involve alleged mail-in ballot fraud, and 60 percent of resolved cases involved mail-in voting. The attorney general’s office prosecuted 534 election fraud-related cases committed by 155 people since 2005, according to the report. “I think we could both agree that 99.9 percent of people are honest and forthright, they don’t cheat at elections. They don’t go around murdering people or committing aggravated robberies, either,” White said in the hearing. Last week, the Republican-led Texas state Senate approved legislation that would ban mail-in ballot drop boxes and most drive-thru voting, a measure that Republicans say “ensures election integrity.” Democrats have said it’s voter suppression and makes it harder for people with disabilities and ethnic minorities to vote. The measure, according to state Sen. Bryan Hughes, a Republican, is “designed to address areas through process where bad actors can take advantage because we want the people of Texas to be confident their elections are fair, honest, and open.” The legislation “standardizes and clarifies” voting rules so “every Texan has a fair and equal opportunity to vote, regardless of where they live in the state.” It also will require voters who have disabilities to prove that they can’t access polls in person in order to qualify for a mail-in ballot, and would also require authorization from top state leaders to be alerted about any private funding of more than $1,000 that is given to election departments, according to KXAN. Hollins that barred the Harris County clerk from doing the same thing. The congressional candidate accused Hidalgo County’s election administrator, Yvonne Ramon, of disregarding Hollins and sending mail-in ballot applications anyway. “What are the repercussions when we have leaders and city officials in our counties that are not upholding current law and upholding what our Texas Supreme Court rulings are?” Hernandez said. Hernandez lost her congressional race in 2020 with 48 percent of the vote to Gonzales’ 51 percent. Hopefully Texas will continue to be a beacon for election integrity and security. Solemnity of Christ the King
Mr. President,
Allow me to address you at this hour in which the fate of the whole world is being threatened by a global conspiracy against God and humanity. I write to you as an Archbishop, as a Successor of the Apostles, as the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States of America. I am writing to you in the midst of the silence of both civil and religious authorities. May you accept these words of mine as the “voice of one crying out in the desert” (Jn 1:23).
As I said when I wrote my letter to you in June, this historical moment sees the forces of Evil aligned in a battle without quarter against the forces of Good; forces of Evil that appear powerful and organized as they oppose the children of Light, who are disoriented and disorganized, abandoned by their temporal and spiritual leaders.
Daily we sense the attacks multiplying of those who want to destroy the very basis of society: the natural family, respect for human life, love of country, freedom of education and business. We see heads of nations and religious leaders pandering to this suicide of Western culture and its Christian soul, while the fundamental rights of citizens and believers are denied in the name of a health emergency that is revealing itself more and more fully as instrumental to the establishment of an inhuman faceless tyranny.
A global plan called the Great Reset is underway. Its architect is a global élite that wants to subdue all of humanity, imposing coercive measures with which to drastically limit individual freedoms and those of entire populations. In several nations this plan has already been approved and financed; in others it is still in an early stage. Behind the world leaders who are the accomplices and executors of this infernal project, there are unscrupulous characters who finance the World Economic Forum and Event 201, promoting their agenda.
The purpose of the Great Reset is the imposition of a health dictatorship aiming at the imposition of liberticidal measures, hidden behind tempting promises of ensuring a universal income and cancelling individual debt. The price of these concessions from the International Monetary Fund will be the renunciation of private property and adherence to a program of vaccination against Covid-19 and Covid-21 promoted by Bill Gates with the collaboration of the main pharmaceutical groups. Beyond the enormous economic interests that motivate the promoters of the Great Reset, the imposition of the vaccination will be accompanied by the requirement of a health passport and a digital ID, with the consequent contact tracing of the population of the entire world. Those who do not accept these measures will be confined in detention camps or placed under house arrest, and all their assets will be confiscated.
Mr. President, I imagine that you are already aware that in some countries the Great Reset will be activated between the end of this year and the first trimester of 2021. For this purpose, further lockdowns are planned, which will be officially justified by a supposed second and third wave of the pandemic. You are well aware of the means that have been deployed to sow panic and legitimize draconian limitations on individual liberties, artfully provoking a world-wide economic crisis. In the intentions of its architects, this crisis will serve to make the recourse of nations to the Great Reset irreversible, thereby giving the final blow to a world whose existence and very memory they want to completely cancel. But this world, Mr. President, includes people, affections, institutions, faith, culture, traditions, and ideals: people and values that do not act like automatons, who do not obey like machines, because they are endowed with a soul and a heart, because they are tied together by a spiritual bond that draws its strength from above, from that God that our adversaries want to challenge, just as Lucifer did at the beginning of time with his “non serviam.”
Many people – as we well know – are annoyed by this reference to the clash between Good and Evil and the use of “apocalyptic” overtones, which according to them exasperates spirits and sharpens divisions. It is not surprising that the enemy is angered at being discovered just when he believes he has reached the citadel he seeks to conquer undisturbed. What is surprising, however, is that there is no one to sound the alarm. The reaction of the deep state to those who denounce its plan is broken and incoherent, but understandable. Just when the complicity of the mainstream media had succeeded in making the transition to the New World Order almost painless and unnoticed, all sorts of deceptions, scandals and crimes are coming to light.
Until a few months ago, it was easy to smear as “conspiracy theorists” those who denounced these terrible plans, which we now see being carried out down to the smallest detail. No one, up until last February, would ever have thought that, in all of our cities, citizens would be arrested simply for wanting to walk down the street, to breathe, to want to keep their business open, to want to go to church on Sunday. Yet now it is happening all over the world, even in picture-postcard Italy that many Americans consider to be a small enchanted country, with its ancient monuments, its churches, its charming cities, its characteristic villages. And while the politicians are barricaded inside their palaces promulgating decrees like Persian satraps, businesses are failing, shops are closing, and people are prevented from living, traveling, working, and praying. The disastrous psychological consequences of this operation are already being seen, beginning with the suicides of desperate entrepreneurs and of our children, segregated from friends and classmates, told to follow their classes while sitting at home alone in front of a computer.
In Sacred Scripture, Saint Paul speaks to us of “the one who opposes” the manifestation of the mystery of iniquity, the kathèkon (2 Thess 2:6-7). In the religious sphere, this obstacle to evil is the Church, and in particular the papacy; in the political sphere, it is those who impede the establishment of the New World Order.
As is now clear, the one who occupies the Chair of Peter has betrayed his role from the very beginning in order to defend and promote the globalist ideology, supporting the agenda of the deep church, who chose him from its ranks.
Mr. President, you have clearly stated that you want to defend the nation – One Nation under God, fundamental liberties, and non-negotiable values that are denied and fought against today. It is you, dear President, who are “the one who opposes” the deep state, the final assault of the children of darkness.
For this reason, it is necessary that all people of good will be persuaded of the epochal importance of the imminent election: not so much for the sake of this or that political program, but because of the general inspiration of your action that best embodies – in this particular historical context – that world, our world, which they want to cancel by means of the lockdown. Your adversary is also our adversary: it is the Enemy of the human race, He who is “a murderer from the beginning” (Jn 8:44).
Around you are gathered with faith and courage those who consider you the final garrison against the world dictatorship. The alternative is to vote for a person who is manipulated by the deep state, gravely compromised by scandals and corruption, who will do to the United States what Jorge Mario Bergoglio is doing to the Church, Prime Minister Conte to Italy, President Macron to France, Prime Minster Sanchez to Spain, and so on. The blackmailable nature of Joe Biden – just like that of the prelates of the Vatican’s “magic circle” – will expose him to be used unscrupulously, allowing illegitimate powers to interfere in both domestic politics as well as international balances. It is obvious that those who manipulate him already have someone worse than him ready, with whom they will replace him as soon as the opportunity arises.
And yet, in the midst of this bleak picture, this apparently unstoppable advance of the “Invisible Enemy,” an element of hope emerges. The adversary does not know how to love, and it does not understand that it is not enough to assure a universal income or to cancel mortgages in order to subjugate the masses and convince them to be branded like cattle. This people, which for too long has endured the abuses of a hateful and tyrannical power, is rediscovering that it has a soul; it is understanding that it is not willing to exchange its freedom for the homogenization and cancellation of its identity; it is beginning to understand the value of familial and social ties, of the bonds of faith and culture that unite honest people. This Great Reset is destined to fail because those who planned it do not understand that there are still people ready to take to the streets to defend their rights, to protect their loved ones, to give a future to their children and grandchildren. The leveling inhumanity of the globalist project will shatter miserably in the face of the firm and courageous opposition of the children of Light. The enemy has Satan on its side, He who only knows how to hate. But on our side, we have the Lord Almighty, the God of armies arrayed for battle, and the Most Holy Virgin, who will crush the head of the ancient Serpent. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom 8:31).
Mr. President, you are well aware that, in this crucial hour, the United States of America is considered the defending wall against which the war declared by the advocates of globalism has been unleashed. Place your trust in the Lord, strengthened by the words of the Apostle Paul: “I can do all things in Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). To be an instrument of Divine Providence is a great responsibility, for which you will certainly receive all the graces of state that you need, since they are being fervently implored for you by the many people who support you with their prayers.
With this heavenly hope and the assurance of my prayer for you, for the First Lady, and for your collaborators, with all my heart I send you my blessing.

“”Corporate communism” began trending on Twitter Tuesday afternoon due to a video of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene coining the term.
The freshman Republican was talking about the Biden administration’s ambitions to buddy up with so-called private companies in creating a way to identify who has been vaccinated against the Wuhan virus. These “vaccine passports” would allow some combination of companies and the government to prohibit unvaccinated people from traveling, going to events or gatherings, or otherwise participating in a free and normal society.
Perhaps more troubling than the ruling class telling Americans they must receive a vaccine in order to participate in normal life is the prospect of the government colluding with monopolistic corporations to accrue private health data from American citizens and restrict their lives accordingly.
Vaccine passports “would mandate your ability to be able to travel, your ability to be able to go to events, your ability to be able to buy and sell,” Greene said in the video, likening the “disturbing” endeavor to “Biden’s mark of the beast.” All of this is being done, she said, under the guise of trying to keep everyone safe.
“Well, let’s analyze that,” the congresswoman continued. “It’s still the same thing. It’s still fascism or communism — whatever you want to call it — but it’s coming from private companies. So I have a term for that. I call it ‘corporate communism.’”
Detractors immediately attacked the idea online, calling Greene’s phrase an oxymoron
Words have meaning, of course, and communism historically means government fully controls the means of production, while among corporations there is a broad range of government influence that typically does not include full government ownership. But criticizing Greene’s wording or bickering over semantics is a huge distraction from the root of the issue.
While perhaps technically inaccurate, Greene is absolutely right on principle and implications: Corrupt monopolies, with vaccine passports as with other regulations and invasions of privacy, are a gaping constitutional loophole for fascism.
Vaccine Passports Rely on Private-Public Fusionism First, consider the fact that the government is working with corporations to create these vaccine passports. As first reported by the Washington Post, the Biden administration is working with private companies to create the passports, which “are expected to be free and available through applications for smartphones, which could display a scannable code similar to an airline boarding pass.”
This implies two things: first, that the government is using private companies to accomplish its goals, meaning the resulting vaccine passport won’t be a private good unadulterated by government input. This move by the Biden administration will result in a sort of public-private fusionism that enables it to issue a centralized and authoritarian program while sidestepping constitutional landmines.
The hands of federal and even state governments are tied in ways that those of monopolies parading as innocuous private companies are not. Therefore, this could comprise government outsourcing to technically private industry that which it is constitutionally and legally barred from doing.
Second, the fact that these passports will be coordinated through smartphone apps implies the government and corporations will use existing tech infrastructure to create them. We’ve already seen this with creepy smartphone contact tracing, through which Apple and Google worked together to use Bluetooth on your smartphone to collect and transmit information about when one person crosses paths with another who tests positive for COVID-19.
Worse still is the troubling word “free.” Nothing is free with technology. Users of tech services always pay at least with their data, a reality that becomes particularly concerning when the currency is private health information and when the option is to comply or else be banned from returning to normal life.
In that way, vaccine passport apps won’t be like TikTok. Deciding your data and privacy are more important than possessing the app won’t just mean you forgo watching dance videos. It could mean you can’t travel, can’t go to certain stores or venues, and thus can’t be truly free.
This Effort Is Backdoor Fascism We’ve seen this trend before, whereby so-called private companies control the means of production and thus operate as authoritarian gatekeepers of information and goods and services. It’s about as close to “corporate communism” as you can get.
Big Tech, the unaccountable monopolies that we’ve entangled in nearly every aspect of our lives and the veritable gatekeepers of our information, are the nastiest culprits. Throughout the 2020 election cycle and immediately following, these companies, including Facebook, Apple, Google, YouTube, Twitter, Snapchat, and Amazon, went on a censorship spree.
That included suppressing information that didn’t service their preferred political candidate, de-platforming conservative voices that cut against their prevailing narrative, digitally burning books they found offensive, nuking videos and channels that offered a dissenting perspective, robbed alternative platforms of the digital infrastructure of the internet, and even silencing the sitting president of the United States.
Much like their response to Greene’s “corporate communism” rant, the left piled onto conservatives over their fears of Big Tech throughout that purge. Private companies have a right to kick users offline, they said. It isn’t “censorship,” if it isn’t the state doing the silencing. “At least it’s not the government,” short-sighted libertarians, weak-kneed conservatives, and complicit Democrats responded.
Meanwhile, corrupt monopolies violated users’ privacy, muzzled their voices, and interfered in an election, only to walk away with their man in the White House and absolutely zero consequences for their corporate despotism. Now that same monopolistic power threatens to further gut the remaining blessings of American life by creating a passport system that will determine the limits of your personal liberty.
“I cannot say this forcefully enough: This is literally the end of human liberty in the West if this plan unfolds as planned. ‘Vaccine passport’ sounds like a fine thing if you don’t understand what these platforms can do,” said Naomi Wolf, author of “The End Of America,” on Fox News this week Monday. “I’m the CEO of a tech company. I understand what this platform does. It is not about the vaccine or the virus; it is about your data. What people need to understand is that any other functionality can be loaded onto that platform with no problem at all.”
Stop pretending authoritarian rule by mammoth actors, government or not, is not a threat to liberty. While Twitter trolls ridicule Republicans over “corporate communism,” state actors are giving private companies the reigns to decide the limits of your freedom.

Lonestar Bias: Texas Election Officials Received $36 Million to Turn State Blue BY J. CHRISTIAN ADAMS MAR 29, 2021 10:01 AM ET
“A new report documents that private foundations spent more than $36 million to pay local election offices in Texas to alter policies and practices in the 2020 election. The money was overwhelmingly spent in solid Democratic strongholds and designed to maximize turnout in these Biden-leaning jurisdictions. The money was concentrated in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and the Rio Grande Valley, according to a new report.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, with which I am associated, reviewed the grant letters and other government documents executed between Texas county election officials and the Center for Technology for Civic Life, a nonprofit that poured over $350 million nationwide into government election offices in order to have those offices adopt policies the nonprofit supported.
The nonprofit was funded by Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg after a dinner meeting where controversial Biden Justice Department nominee Vanita Gupta advocated for the strategy in 2019.
Other organizations donated another $100 million nationwide to local election offices in addition to the Zuckerberg-related nonprofit, raising the total to influence government election policy to almost half a billion dollars. PJ Media was the first to report the details of this plan last April.
Documents from Texas county election officials obtained for the Public Interest Legal Foundation report show that the private dollars were focused on adopting procedures not always consistent with Texas law and practices, such as drive-through voting and voting by mail for any reason, contrary to Texas law.
In other words, the private dollars were used in a way to pressure officials to alter existing Texas election procedures adopted by the Texas legislature.
Texas Rep. Phil King has introduced HB 2283to solve the problem and prohibit private dollars from flowing into government election offices. The bill has sat in committee since March 15.
The private dollars appear to have made a difference. Tarrant County received $1.6 million in Zuckerberg cash. Biden’s performance improved 43% in raw votes over Hillary Clinton’s compared to Trump’s increase of 18% in raw votes. The same dynamic played out in urban areas across Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Democratic urban cores opened the floodgates to Biden votes – all through the creation of structural bias.
Austin area counties also received Zuckerberg dollars, and raw Democrat vote totals there jumped 70 and 80 percent over 2016 in counties like Hays and Williamson, according to the PILF report.
So how does this happen? The Zuckerberg dollars turned urban offices into massive turnout machines. As I wrote:
What these grants did was build structural bias into the 2020 election where structural bias matters most – in densely populated urban cores. It converted election offices in key jurisdictions with deep reservoirs of Biden votes into Formula One turnout machines. The hundreds of millions of dollars built systems, hired employees from activist groups, bought equipment and radio advertisements. It did everything that street activists could ever dream up to turn out Biden votes if only they had unlimited funding. It is true that red counties in Texas also received grants, but those were fig leaf grants designed to insulate the Center For Technology and Civic life from accusations of bias. More importantly, those grants were smaller, sometimes only $5,000, and barely enough to make any dent in behaviors, unlike the large blue-county grants in Texas.
If the Texas election were confined only to those counties that received Zuckerberg dollars, the report notes, Biden would have won Texas by 270,000 votes. That’s the point. The private dollars created efficiencies and capacities. When a given county is majority blue to begin with, such as Harris or Travis, and you create efficiencies and capacities in the election process in those counties, you are manufacturing votes for Democrats that did not exist before the efficiencies and capacities were put in place with Zuckerberg dollars.
Some might wonder why Zuckerberg money was wasted on Texas, a state Trump was sure to win.
Two answers. First, Texas was not always a certain Texas win. The October spin in the Democrat-friendly media was that Texas was in play. Second, and more importantly, the play in Texas wasn’t about 2020. It was about flipping Texas blue in the future. And if and when that happens, it will be done by building out efficiencies and capacities in the counties in 2020 that were part of the trial run.
Now you understand why banning private money that builds in bias in Texas is so important.”
"Two weeks ago, I wrote of the Department of Justice’s overreach respecting some of the hundreds of January 6 defendants. On Friday the D.C. Circuit clipped the department’s wings. I expect more such losses as time goes on and the Department must actually present evidence in contested trials.
The ploy of keeping in D.C. jails without bail some of the protestors who engaged in no specific violent acts at the Capitol until their cases can be heard was very obviously designed to compel them to plea bargain so they could return home to their families and jobs, and the three-judge panel wasn’t buying it. . . And they do so here in what was clearly the Department of Justice’s political effort to paint with a broad brush anyone who supported Trump on January 6 and to place unreasonable and unlawful burdens on those protestors in order to bolster overcharged crimes.
On March 14, I wrote: Defense counsel in some cases asked, as is their right, for speedy trials. The government seems to be over its skisa now, having heralded its charges against over 300 people, people as to whom the evidence of wrongdoing seems disputable as the government seeks to portray a grand conspiracy when, at best, it has only random acts -- mostly misdemeanors by dozens of people. Claiming they need time to proceed because they are investigating some vast conspiracy seems a convenient prosecutorial trick to keep people jailed for a long time in order to compel plea agreements from people who are employed, have stable family and community relations, and no criminal history.
The unblinkered Circuit Court panel seems to have seen clearly through this maneuver.
In our view, those who actually assaulted police officers and broke through windows, doors, and barricades, and those who aided, conspired with, planned or coordinated such actions, are in a different category of dangerousness than those who cheered on the violence or entered the Capitol after others cleared the way. . . "

DHS Preparing to Use Private Contractors to “Scour Public Data and Social Media” To Compile Dissident Citizens for Watch List and No Fly Lists

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is now getting ready to hire public companies, individual contractors outside government, to scour public data and social media in order to provide information for the new “domestic terror watch lists.” From the description it appears DHS is going to pay “big tech” (Google, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter, etc.), via contracts, to hire and organize internal monitoring teams to assist the government by sending information on citizens they deem “dangerous.”
Gee, what could possibly go wrong with this?…
NBC is reporting on these new developments as the U.S. intelligence apparatus is preparing to go live with the assembly of lists of Americans who “could be” potential threats to the government; and need to be watched.
However, even NBC is beginning to realize the consequences: “DHS planning to expand relationships with companies that scour public data for intelligence and to better harness the vast trove of data it already collects on Americans. The department is also contemplating changes to its terrorist watch listing process.”

Two senior Biden administration officials told NBC News that DHS, whose intelligence division did not publish a warning of potential violence before the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, is seeking to improve its ability to collect and analyze data about domestic terrorism — including the sorts of public social media posts that threatened a potential attack on the Capitol, but were not deemed “actionable” by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.
