I never said they couldn't go to the hospital. It's actually more safe for at-risk people to go to the hospital now than if we weren't on lockdown.
Again, I never said they were common. I simply meant that anyone who is providing in-home care will likely get sick and in-turn get the at-risk person sick.

What about the people that care for the elderly and come in contact with them everyday? People that take care of their elderly parents, nursing home workers, and healthcare workers. Do you make them stay home too? Also, at the hospital I work at we are seeing that some previously healthy people are needing medical treatment after getting COVID. So in your plan of "keep the old people home" the hospitals get overrun with more patients than they can treat.

If you're so sure that GEOTUS and his advisors are clueless then how about offering a better solution that doesn't involve hospitals being overrun with patients and running out of vents. Everyone says "Oh yeah just quarantine the old and unhealthy people." but nobody has explained in detail how that would work. Don't you think the people that are running the country thought about that option and ran simulations to try to make it work? Or do you honestly think Trump and his team's first thought was to just shut the whole economy down? Maybe quarantining does work in these other countries that you keep referring to (you still haven't given specific examples) but I actually believe that Trump and his team looked at all the options and chose what was best for us as a country.
Even most dogs that chase cars are smart enough to stop after getting hit a couple of times. But the Dems can't seem to learn and it looks like they are limping back out to the road again... You gotta respect they're determination but the car always wins.
The elderly still need food, medical care, and various other things that force them to interact with younger folks. Either way at this point we've got so many cases that a quarantine won't work. The social distancing and limiting contact with others that Trump is recommending is the best we can do. Even with all of these restrictions and efforts, the hospital that I work at has fewer and fewer available ventalators every day. I'm on the "front line" (for lack of a better term) and see that if cases don't slow then there are going to be more patients than we can treat. It really doesn't matter to me at this point what other countries did or are doing. We've got to deal with this the best we can here and now; and right now the president and everyone who knows what they're talking about is saying isolate and stay away from others as much as possible.
Yes you should stay home and yes you sound crazy to be upset about commercials. I work in a hospital and things are bad where I'm at. That might not be the case where you are but this is very contagious and keeping away from people is the best way to slow it. We've got people here that (as best we can tell) are getting sick from coming into contact with patients that weren't symptomatic until days after they last saw them. That's why this is so bad. You might not be at serious risk but your parent or grandparents might be. The last thing I want is to my grandpa who's in poor health sick by visiting him while I'm feeling fine and then end up becoming symptomatic days later. If you actually care about the health of the elderly then stay home. I was glad to turn the TV on this morning and see that commercials are pushing social distancing. I don't like most celebs but some people listing to them so I'm glad they are spreading the message.
