God gave us free will in the beginning. He told us the rules for our own good. We decided to break them by allowing sin into our lives. The wages of sin is death. Because we have free will and are sinful beings, some of us do very bad things and it can be deadly for other people. Just like in the garden when man became ashamed of his nakedness and God had to slaughter an animal to cloth them in it's fur. Sin = death. Our God warned us. We freely ignored our fathers rules.
