This is how I would answer: We'd ask them...but many have been barred from being able to participate socially in these conversations due to what you are referencing. Many remaining individuals are likely afraid to voice their opinions on this matter for fear of being verbally attacked or losing their jobs. There is a difference in being accountable for "actions" and shamed for "opinions." An opinion is a 'judgement, viewpoint, or statement that is not conclusive, rather than facts, which are true statements.' No one should be excluded from participating in society for having an opinion that doesn't agree with yours; especially not in a free society. If you don't believe that is occurring, I encourage you to brush up on who has had their social media accounts canceled and for exactly what reasons. If you were able to reach out to a few of those people, it would be interesting to know (from their perspectives, not the echo chamber we create for ourselves); how do they feel? Were they truly held accountable for their actions? Or were they silenced for their opinions?
