The end of romans 1 is also something that I am increasingly convinced applies directly to many in the American Church today: After condemning all kinds of evil, including homosexuality specifically, Paul says - “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but approve of those who practice them.” That last part, “but approve of those who practice them” applies directly to liberal “Christians” today, including all those who I grew up with. In my opinion, it seems to me that approving of people who do those things while not doing them oneself is actually worse than being an active participant. It’s reminiscent of Jesus’ comment that it is better for a man to be thrown in the ocean with a millstone tied to his neck than to cause a child who believes in him to stumble.
