Believe me, as a woman I feel that.

My mom did some time working, and some time as a stay-at-home mom, but she always seemed to impress on me that I should not "depend" on my husband, whoever he might be, that I need to be ready to be independent. This from a woman who didn't have any major relationship troubles and only married once.

Also, I had to go to college, I had to get a 4 year degree. My dream job was behind a trade school...well, dreams don't always come true. I ended up being a lifer working tech support. And there's no real reason to leave that job as things stand. It makes good money. Dreams not coming true is one life lesson hard learned, but it has allowed me to be content with the way things turned out, at least in my personal life.

But I will admit, part of me yearns to be that housewife, not worrying about things other than cooking, chores, and the kid. Spending 8 hours a day 5 days a week getting yelled at by entitled snots is a very draining life. (Which is probably why it pays well, I admit.) But I've worked long enough to earn a very generous vacation allotment every year. Being able to take a day off every couple of weeks and still have enough left over to take some significant time off really, really helps.

Lemmie guess. They romanticized PTSD after reading one too many fanfics and decided they wanted that for themselves, and went out looking for reasons to be oppressed. Right?

Bravery is acting despite fear, not the absence of fear.

Remember that.

I would argue that the way WW2 and the Nazis have been romanticized is the exact problem.

The Weimar Republic was largely nihilistic, as we see much of the western world now. The belief in any transcendent good or evil was labeled as oppressive. But nobody wants to be the bad guy. So how to become a "good guy"? Fight oppression. Sound familiar?

Hitler was evil. Yes, there is no doubt about that. However, what people fail to recognize is that there's no kid out there that thinks "I want to be an evil overlord when I grow up and violently take over the world". Hitler believed he was the "good guy", and that his actions would bring Germany to a pre-Christian life, with quaint pagan villages and communities living in harmony with nature. He largely blamed both Christians and Jews for Germany's problems, but believed if he got rid of (what he believed to be) the root of the problem, Christianity would eventually decay into some kind of pantheon-worship paganism with the trappings of Catholicism.

Now the thing we need to realize is much of Europe (and North America for that matter) was also like this at the time. Germany is just where it came to a head and blew up. WW2 gave "meaning" back to everyone, which "reset" the rest of the world. That is why it is so heavily romanticized. That is why we have the UN and other such organizations. That's why the endless war to supposedly prevent war. That's why we have globalism. The people behind this believe with every fiber of their beings that they are the "good guys" preventing more world war, even though they themselves are perpetuating it.

The modern SJWs are today's Nazis. They just don't know it yet. They are searching for meaning in their lives and they find it by fighting perceived oppression by those who believe in absolute good and evil. That means, yes, Christians and Jews. I believe we're in for another long, hard ride, that will last at least another decade.

On this subject, saw something funny while driving my kid to school.

A little old lady, walking her yap-dogs, in a Crowder t-shirt.

You know, once upon a time I consumed so much Star Wars in my life. I remember escaping into SWG whenever I needed to just get out of the world.

Now? I miss the good old days of having cardboard tube "lightsaber" fights with my siblings, but other than that? I don't care anymore.

Being betrayed by every facet of the media will do that to you.

Well, this site has its wrinkles too.

There's a crowd of folks who show up trying to demoralize us into giving up every time it looks like we've had any small or minor win. The mods might be okay, but any thread that seems to be pushing a theme that the situation is hopeless is likely manipulating us.

The "LOL vote harder" and "muh Dominion" crap is the worst. Literally everybody here is aware of Dominion. It's only going to be removed or otherwise beaten at the local level. That's where the fight is. We should be hearing this every day and we should be getting stickies every day about things people can do to help. Instead, the "give up, it's hopeless" stuff gets sticked far more often. And when something worthwhile does get stickied? A flood of the "give up, it's hopeless" crowd shows up to take the fire out of the thread.

Let it be clear, I don't take issue with memes. They are for "rallying the troops", so to speak. I just think the mods should, well, mod.

That idiot's music was evil enough.

Between her and Lady Gaga, it felt like all the great music I'd remembered in the 90s and the decade after were slowly being drowned out by utter stupidity. Alternative and grunge gradually died, being replaced by pop songs that would make a prostitute blush. I found myself listening to the "harder" Rock and Alternative stations just to get away from it. (Though with that you get a lot of drug songs and generally whiney songs.)

For a while I wondered if it was just a sign I was "getting old". (Because I hated the new music.) Though, if all big problems are generational, we might be stuck with the annoying music for a while.

Well, this is where things get weird.

There's plenty of American-made components. Processors, RAM, etc. Heck, Corning makes the glass on a lot of phone screens. There's an Intel factory a block from my house and AMD manufactures a lot of processors stateside.

Problem is...who solders all the motherboards together? Where are most power supplies assembled? Monitors? What about surge protectors, case fans, heat sinks...okay, you get the idea.

I suppose the processors, RAM, and hard drives could be argued to be the "important parts", sure. But what about that Xbox your kid is asking for for Christmas? Yup. China. Every game console is made in China. Sure, the software is usually made elsewhere. But that's not really manufacturing, is it?

How about a TV? The good ones are made in Korea. Everything else? China. How about a Fire Stick or a Blu-Ray player? Yeah, you know where that's going.

Don't get me started on smartphones. Just to get away from Chinese made stuff, you have to buy absolute top of the line Samsung or Asus devices. All the more fairly priced budget devices? Do you even have to ask? LOL

I'm not saying it's impossible, but for some items/components, it's hard to get away from the Chinese stuff. Until then, sure, get the kid the Xbox, but teach him to build his own machine too.
