I've been arguing the same. But the kind of stuff I'm calling out isn't useful. It's just "meh, just give up" crap.

Here's the thing... I was pretty damn demoralized the entirety of last year. I posted about it pretty frequently too. While I trusted Trump, I knew as soon as the Supreme Court refused to hear the state lawsuit that no superhero was coming to save us.

Last December, there was a strange mix of the "blind positivity" (Don't you dare question that we will win) and an overload of content insisting we were all dead if either the "superhero" didn't show, or we didn't start shooting immediately. I wasn't giving up, but it felt like nobody was willing to even talk about what we do if we couldn't pull through. The only meaningful and useful posts were people trying to organize the various calling/writing campaigns toward our congress critters, and while I didn't think it would win, I thought it was amazing how much progress we did make. Clearly so did a few corrupt congress critters in Washington, considering the false flag.

So I'm not asking for blind positivity. I'm asking people to quit spoiling threads about the many, many, many small wins we will need to get anywhere.

Instead of posting "meh, it's all worthless", post something like "we're not done". You see the difference?

Anyway, there's my rant. I leave this thread somewhat amused at the responses. Oh well.

Yup, that's pretty honk worthy...

Did I miss a meme? Is it time to get Gandalf out now?

They tend to be the same people who give their pronouns in their profile...

We need to keep up the pressure, not retreating into a mass of whining.

I know there were talks years ago of New Mexico and Montana actually wagering land with each other. Yes. As in gambling. o_O Over...wrestling.

I don't think anything actually happened, but that was a thing.

Not if we keep up the momentum. These things are happening now because now is the time to attack.

The left didn't take over in a day. They chipped away at our freedom for decades. They were trying to slow-boil the frog.

Well... Then they freaked out and turned the heat to max. People are now reacting, and rightly so.

Now all the masks are off, the frogs are jumping out.

So instead of complaining, why not make sure their next steps involve getting rid of the voting machines, and making election night the absolute deadline for any counting?

This doesn't feel like Gen Z so much as "everybody" these days.

I would argue it's not even that.

It's pretty much any female who has any tomboyish traits.

Does she like to play sports? Does she like video games? Fixing things? Math? Programming? Science?

OMG NON BINARY!

(But at the same time you see schools pushing girls to get into "stem" jobs...)

I was pretty damn tomboyish in college. I loved video games and martial arts, but it's not like I didn't enjoy the occasional "chick flick". Nowadays somebody would probably be trying to tell me that I was a closet lesbian or tranny.

You know what I miss? Back in high school the chemistry teacher was also the home ec teacher. The lady had Star Trek posters on her walls, but was still very feminine. And nobody had a problem with that! Where did the sane world go?

Or depressing...but I guess I should take the "glass is half full" route...

Pretty much this. I've seen completely straight people identify as LGBT just for the cred points.

Kind of a feel good verse. I think we need them more often.

How does Plex work exactly? Do you have to rip all your disks?

HiddenDekuScrub 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, and music and voices are part of the picture. "Download this" might work for a game developer in his garage, but you won't make a movie with that alone.

Video games are a different monster. Like books, it requires very little overhead to make a good one, so you don't have to sell your soul to get in the industry. It also helps that a lot of good "big releases" are from Japan.

The problem with games is, like with books, they keep your brain exercised, so they don't really replace TV and movies. The normies we want to reach just want to vedge out and binge watch.

Totoro is definitely great. Reminds me of old family movies, and definitely has small town appeal. (Japanese, sure, but yeah.)

Wonder how they would take Spirited Away. That one is pretty surreal.

Some of them. Others get more than a little preachy. I dunno if many people here would appreciate Princess Mononoke.

But Ponyo is probably one of the best "kids movies" I've seen. And I don't know why, but Ponyo's mother giving her to Lisa makes me cry every time.

I agree with you. One thing I've noticed is sorely lacking on the conservative end is that we're too damn cost effective. 🤣

We'll write books, music, or video games because they require very little overhead to make something good. Imagination can make up for lack of production money, and can often win big. But TV and movies require a hell of a lot of resources to do something even mediocre. Live action requires people to act out roles, location scouting, studio space, props, permits, etc. An animator could probably pull off a good animation alone using Flash (now Adobe Animate) or some open-source 3d software, but they'd still need voices, music, etc. This kind of stuff requires teams of people working in cooperation.

It seems conservatives usually only go this far for documentaries or "message movies" unfortunately. We need to start putting out entertainment for entertainment's sake. If people have a good place to "check out" where they can just watch a good flick without being preached at, the likes of Disney, Turner, and Netflix would have some real issues.

But hell if I know how to start a TV studio.

When we take back the country from the local level. Arizona is making strides, all things considered, because their constituents are mad as hell that this happened and are still holding feet to the fire.

No more top-down politics. Ignore national anything for now. Also ignore all the "elections don't matter". They do matter, that's why we have to fix them. Get involved locally, because that's where all the repair work is.

Whether it's precincts or school boards or state legislatures or convention of states, find something to do.
