That has nothing to do with the purpose of wearing a mask (preventing you from releasing it into the air by coughs and sneezes). A mask isn't going to stop YOU from getting the virus but it will help you from spreading it to other people. The bible and Jesus's teachings are very clear about saving others and not just thinking about yourself.
The point of wearing masks is to stop spreading it to other people, not prevent yourself from getting it. Of course a mask isn't going to stop you from getting it, you need actual biohazard level 4 protection equipment for that.

You can literally prove masks work by sneezing without one on and with one on into your hand and comparing the wetness of your hand. Even if you made some shit masks out of pantyhose like a literal retard it would still contain a good amount of your droplets to your face and prevent them from spraying far into the air. Like literally it does not take a scientist at all to understand that less cough and sneeze droplets in the air = lower transmission rate it's like preschool math we're talking about here. You raise a good point that it doesn't do anything for someone that isn't infected but explain to me again how someone knows if they are infected or not? Considering viruses have something called an incubation period where you are infected many days before any symptoms show (symptoms don't show until your body has actually tried fighting the virus). Yeah masks aren't 100% foolproof, not even CDC level-4 protective gear is, but masks do help a lot any literal retard can test it out.

A sick person with no mask sneezing everewhere could cover an entire grocery store alone in a virus and gets hundreds infected just by themselves. Now I'm not saying the coronavirus is really much to worry about anyway and I do think the whole thing is overblown.
