Thanks for that one. I also remember reading a comparative political study way back in University (a very long time ago). The study probably couldn't even be conducted these days (because racism) and I didn't quote it because I couldn't remember the name or author. It compared the experiences of various immigrant groups (blacks, south asians, east asians etc.) in Canada, UK and US. In a nutshell, the study concluded that the economic success of each group was quite similar in each country and that Blacks fared the worst. They also found that black youth had similar life goals as other groups but failed to make the connection between the goal and the necessary work leading to that goal. For example, black kids were unaware of the years of high achievement study required to become a doctor. My best guess is that it has to be a parenting issue. Good habits are relatively easy to instill at an early as but pretty difficult after your teenager is already on drugs with a rap sheet for stealing cars.

Good points, funny how transgender people rarely, if ever, highlight any of the wholesome, traditional aspects of what women have contributed to family and society. It's not all Transgender book reading for toddlers at libraries. I happen to have lived in many countries all over the world (currently in India) and I see, first hand, the daily lives of women and the work they do. I think that a large portion of American culture has become soft and lacks perspective and that is why these issues have been able to take root.
