Thanks for the tips! I'll keep these in mind, we're still 9 months out before we move as we wrap up projects and ties here.
Thank you! Hadn't heard of River Oaks, Cinco Ranch, Sugarland, Kingwood or The Woodlands. Will consider those.
Here's what I've heard so far about the areas:
East Downtown/Eastwood (Up and coming, Hispanic) East of downtown - heavily Hispanic and lower income. When I hear "East of downtown" I think Denver harbor. Im not sure this area fits with you and your wife's professions.
**Katy (nice, a bit boring, planned community, mostly gas and oil people) Katy- accurate description, it was nicer 20 years ago and expect a drive in if you're working in the city. Some of the problems of Houston have followed people out
**Clear Lake (water and NASA) Clear Lake - This could be a possibility. Again, if you're working in this area and spending all your time there it might not be bad and Clear Lake should be pretty affordable but if you have to commute every day it's a different situation. Clear Lake is like ~25miles from Houston.
Montrose (funky and fun) Montrose - This for the longest time use to be known as the "gay" part of town. old school area of town where a lot of homosexuals (used?) to reside. I would say it's changed in the last ~10 years or so, they are still there but there are nice townhomes etc to live in that area but it's going to cost $$$.
**Cypress (trees) Cypress - Have a friend who lives out in Cypress, probably can find some space and it's better than living in Houston proper but expect a commute into the city.
The Heights (costly, older) Heights - You could find something nice in this area, very old part of Houston and there are some really nice authentic old school houses here but it's definitely one of the more expensive areas to reside in.
Seabrook (seafood) Seabrook - Familiar with it but can't comment on the living situation out there. I would guess it would be very affordable but again, expect to commute.
Midtown (recently updated) Midtown - Up and coming like you mentioned, it's got new nice restaurants and townhomes etc. Expect to pay $$$ for a house and the funny thing is that you should still expect see things that you would not expect for the $$$ your paying.
South Hampton (?) South Hampton - Honestly, never heard of this area.
Pasadena (smelly) Pasadena - Low end, a lot of refineries, very affordable houses but the entire city of Pasadena consists largely of low income Hispanics.
Rice (University) Rice near the university is nice but very expensive.
How about those bad areas when you say it's easy to get killed? Can you explain?
If you say freak enough times it's true.
Your wife says I'm one in the bedroom.
Hm... not sure I want to regulate free speech. I would like to let them implode over time.
college football = OK
NFL = not OK
You come out neutral. Keep the one drop the other, don't financially support them. If you really care about the outcome, read the sports page.
Will consider it. Thank you.
True. JFK was a decent Dem.
Damn, because we are talking about moving to the Houston area for work and getting out of Los Angeles. Plus we want to raise a family and LA is not the place for that, Houston is better from what I gather.
I've heard good things about Cypress but I don't know much about TX other than we love the politics overall there and the cost of living is better and the job market is better (I work in IT, my wife healthcare). Which areas should I consider looking at in terms of cost and safety? We'll fortunately be able to work from home. You can PM me off board if you want.
Thank you for the summary!
Give her a break, she's still new to our side. Of course she's going to have old behaviors.
Thanks for clarifying. Still hot.
What are the good suburbs? I thought the further away you got from the center ring the better it got?
Your new account status and downvoting the following comment is suspect, and your anti-ACB comment also seems suspect. A lot of fake supporters have infiltrated.
I like it. I was a Democrat a while ago but that's because the Republicans were more neocons and I was not for getting into needless wars. That was the main reason I voted for Obama in 2008 as I thought he'd at least end the Bush wars, but nope he was even worse in that regard, which I didn't think possible. Then for 8 years I was disaffected and a Libertarian voter - including 2016. Not this time, if the Republicans become more like Trump I'll remain otherwise I'll become a Libertarian again.
Infections ... it's so hot right now!
This!
Don't assume we have it in the bag, keep registering! The dems WILL cheat!
We need to make sure that we are getting more conservatives to register to vote and Dems who are leaving their party, do not overlook them a lot of blue dogs are not happy with their party anymore:

She is beautiful, I'm assuming she's an actress in Los Angeles.
A lot of people in LA have to hide their views to succeed, makes you wonder which side really is tolerant, doesn't it?
Oddly, she compares him to Trump at the end. So it seems like she's not a fan of either of them, which makes it seem a bit more believable as opposed to being partisan.
*millions
PS I haven't met many (any) who are voting Dem now from Republican, but I've met tons of Dems and Indies voting Republican for the first time ever!
Voted Gary Johnson, and voted for Cruz in the primaries. You made the better choice! I'm stoked to vote Trump in 2020 and I'm sure there are many more who did not vote for him the first time who will the second time around!
Get woke, go broke! Diet coke, more folks!
mental illness discriminates against no one, sorry to hear about this situation.
Hot? Based on what, the fact you can't see her face? Or that she's thin as opposed to the ham planets around her?
Well, it's all in your head does have some truth to it.
