Use the typical internet hotel booking sites an look for hotels in Northern Virginia - Fairfax County or Prince William County. The route in along I-66 has plenty of hotels near the exits, especially starting in Manassas. Better to sleep in Virginia than DC proper. I just searched priceline.com for hotels in "Fairfax, VA" and many are available for under $100 per night. Manassas, VA and Falls Church, VA and Arlington, VA are also good cities to base a search on.
If you stay in VA, of course, you will need to have a plan to get into town on the 6th.
