For those who understandably hate youtube, a summary: the Gopher Tortoise is a keystone species that burrows in the long-leaf pine ecosystems. Its tunnel systems create a whole MASSIVE ecosystem for life to thrive in. However, they require an open sandy soil to function, and cannot survive in areas where overgrowth is prevented from burning. Without these little guys doing their thing, all of the 200-300 species that directly or indirectly rely on this tortoise go too.

I think over time, the brain begins to associate a certain look with the scent of perfume. Her age, choice of lipstick, makeup, and overall appearance indicate someone who puts a lot of time into maintaining hygiene. I think someone like that is more likely to wear perfume or cologne and eventually your brain will find a pattern and begin to expect a smell to follow. My best guess.
