I went to the grocery store the other day and noticed people (three men) walking out without masks; I was relieved because I had been wondering briefly if this was one of those stores that required them or not, and clearly it wasn't. As I went in, I got some dirty looks at the bakery/flower shop entrance from some women, all in masks. But then I saw a smiling old lady pass by without one and continued on. Other than the cheerful old lady, all women had masks, and no men did (besides employees).
I can see the logic to it; women tend to be more hypervigilant/fear motivated (defensive players) and men tend to be more opportunity motivated (offensive players), just by our evolutionary biology. Men get and build, women maintain and preserve. But I was wondering if this is a convenience sample or something you'd also noticed?
It also made me wonder if at some point it will become like Islam, where women have a social pressure (largely enforced by other women, like so many things) to cover their faces and the like, to show they have the 'right' opinions and submissiveness, and if somehow men will be exempt because submissiveness is not a highly valued trait in our sex.
Thoughts, data, anecdotes?
I haven't needed a lawyer in years and even that was just to handle some probate-estate stuff. Most lawyers specialize a bit; I know of some who are basically traffic only, some who are civil only, some who are probate only, etc.
When you tell FBI or police to talk to your lawyer, do you need to have contacted a lawyer to ask them to be "your" go to if you're under criminal suspicion?
It seems it'd be awkward to reach out to a criminal attorney in the phone book and go "I haven't done anything but if anyone ever thinks I did, do you have my back?" but maybe that's how it's done. I have heard of having a lawyer on retainer, but that seems to be mostly for businesses. Or do you tell the police/FBI/etc. to talk to your lawyer and then you have a grace period in which you can look for a lawyer to do a consultation and agree to take your case?
Feel free to use this post to ask similar "dumb" questions and hopefully get answers. I think a lot of us have basically been Boy Scouts who have kept our heads down and haven't had to deal with the law much.
So I want to connect more in person with people, that whole 'talk to your neighbors' thing since I think that's solid advice and something I can do right now when feeling disenfranchised and helpless. I was thinking of starting a men's book club or getting together to watch some movies; Full Metal Jacket, One Flew Over, etc. I think women have a lot of 'lean in' stuff but men's groups are kind of getting isolated.
I figured, yeah, classics like Kipling are great, and another Pede on here opened me up to poet Robert Service. But we want to do some contemporary stuff too. Of course Amazon's recommendations are all lame. But whenever I look at major library reading list suggestions, it's overwhelmingly about the struggles of blacks and/or women. (Example: https://www.nypl.org/books-more/recommendations/staff-picks/adults )
What's some quality, not-entirely-mindless entertainment that isn't obsessing over he race/gender stuff they've been harping over for the last 10 or so years now?
It's bonds over shared culture and stuff like that that will connect us.
Man, hearing people I'd chatted casually with all weekend suddenly say today: "Did you know Texas hinted at secession?!" and having to go through all the thoughts I did Friday but have now worked through is a trip. Damn you, .win for keeping me several days ahead of the heard at all times! I've had time to chill a little about the SCOTUS ruling. Still not happy with it, but no longer dooming and willing to see what Trump and Guliani have up their sleeve in the face of so many new drops since then.
it seems odd to me all the talk is of PA, with a little more on WI and AZ. But isn't Georgia the lynchpin? Even if we prove we won PA and AZ, if Biden has GA, we only prove a tie. meanwhile, if we prove we won GA, doesn't Biden have to win literally everything else in contention?
The lack of much assurance we're taking GA is what worries me. Is there something I'm missing?
I've been pretty black pill. My mind set is "It's over, we lost, and no matter what we prove, nobody's gonna DO anything. It's been 'tick-tock' for four years. We haven't locked up anyone." But I thought, keep fighting--there's not much I can do, besides donate, and look for info I can share or comb through. I won't make a difference. I don't think we will win. But I refuse to be the reason we lose. I can't be the one who determines if we in, but I can be the one who determines if I have any regrets. So selfishly, I'll keep going.
Check my history, this has been my mindset. So when I say "Get out and exercise!" it's real advice based on what worked for me. I went for a workout, to the point of exhaustion. Ever work out so hard your tongue hurts from how hard the blood's pumping? Every time I wanted to stop, I thought of how pissed I was. I went until I couldn't lift, until my vision was fuzzy when I stood, then I stayed down with a water bottle for a few minutes. Then I showered up, had dinner with some friends, and I feel stable and normal.
And it's good for you. This isn't some pity party self care bullshit. Even if we lose, you won' regret exercising. Has anyone ever regret exercising--besides being sore as fuck the next day or something? Don't work yourself to death regularly, but exercise is a great stress relief and an anti-depressant. I feel more clear headed. I hope this helps some of you, too.
It'll be Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanugh who, together, take down Biden and Harris, with one ruling. Harris was the biggest attack dog on Kavannugh over Ford, and Biden was the big attack dog on Thomas over Anita Hill.
It's really amazing how nobody's just rolling over and taking it! I, and I know many of you were discouraged, black pilled. I'm in an area set red, nothing left to do. But agencies I've given, will keep giving money to, are earning it! Regular civilians are recording, documenting, fighting! This really is America, and we're not gonna roll over and be overtaken! This is more inspiring than a landslide would've been!
Arizona's been locked at 86% since forever and PA's not moving. Only change all day has been them awarding Biden Michigan. Where can I actually get the latest numbers? I heard Arkansas officially declared they were going for Trump per Christine Ong Cothrun, an Arizona delegate. When's that hit a map?
Donald Trump has done nothing but end wars, and for the first time in most millenial's voting lives, there are no debate questions about any Islamic Terrorist groups or about any ongoing foreign wars.
That just blows my mind. Every single debate started off talking about the god damned flu, because Trump's wiping the floor on everything else (and on that too, but it's an ongoing enough issue they can spin it). Ever since 9/11, Islamic Terror and the Middle East have been leading issues. Now ISIS is dead and the only discussion on it is whether Obama killed some of our soldiers to try and get sure credit for Bin Ladin's death.
Reminder of where you can report trainings that violate Trump's Executive Orders against Critical Race Theory. I had heard a hotline was being made, but haven't found anything about it. This is a popular time of year for diversity seminars and sensitivity training, it seems. Had to pass this to a couple of friends this week: [email protected]
My thoughts had always been "Who really cares, the first lady's not elected, she shouldn't do anything but ceremonial duties. I didn't care about Hillary, I didn't remember anything about Laura, and I thought Moochelle was absurdly self important for someone who didn't bother with trying to uphold any class in the position (which, again, not a huge deal for me, it's a non-elected position which should have no power).
But knowing Melania upholds grace and class while still having a strong spitfire strength, who KNOWS it's all ceremonial but upholds it for the stability and pride it brings the nation makes me happy. She doesn't kid herself that the Christmas Decorations are important when on the scale of real issues--but she still wants to make for a nice Christmas for everyone anyway. I've always liked her as a person; a multi-lingual, talented woman who choose to be a mother and family woman first and foremost despite an embarrassment of riches and skills she could dedicate her life to, despite how easy it'd be to throw a nanny at Barron, were she of a mind. But she's a wonderful fit for the part---not overstepping her boundaries by pretending anyone elected her or that she should have any say in policy, upholding ceremonial duties, and keeping the salty spitfire comments she knows her husband's base would love to herself and between friends, because she's going to be a classy figure, if her duty is to be a figurehead.
I love her more for what she leaked, and even more than that for that it had to be leaked for us to know.
