As far as schools go, they own your kids when you drop them off at the door basically. Part of the reason why I don't believe public school should be legally required when you are also in effect required to sign over your parental rights when your children are in state custody. Of course you can claim you are homeschooling but the government will come check on your progress and require mandatory and regular reporting of their new little worker's progress at home.
As far as your job goes you have the right to choose another employer at any time in most states without facing any legal challenges. If an employer is requiring something like that and another employer is not, the free market will decide. In effect it isn't that simple for many reasons, but as far as from a lawful perspective. Employers can require drug tests for employment which you consent to at time of employment.
