The hypocrisy is the point. They know they are hypocrites and engaged in blatant double standards but they are not embarrassed by it; quite the opposite, in fact. They revel in it because it is an exercise of pure power and shows non-leftists that they can and will be persecuted by the state for doing the exact thing state law specifically permits and which the left has told us for months is no problem at all (ballot harvesting).
And notice how the AP article frames the issue—the lede is buried 3/4 of the way into the article, that state law was changed in 2018 to allow unlimited ballot harvesting. Yet the article’s focus is on the Democrats’ concerns (treated by the propagandist as valid) and threats.

These fake ass manipulated polls are designed by the liberal media to do two things: first, demoralize Trump voters and the few undecideds left, to convince them Trump can’t win; second, to set the stage for election theft—they’ll point to the pre election polls to say “see Biden was up 13 points him winning was expected” while the media actively suppresses evidence of mass voter fraud.
It’s like they think Trump voters are too dumb to remember the polls four years ago showing Hillary up by 14 with three weeks to go.

At some point you have to blame the people who believe the media’s obvious lies. I used to be one of those people but when I finally saw the media telling me something other than what my own eyes were seeing, the scales fell from my eyes, so to speak.
Some liberals are capable of that kind of breakthrough, but others are so ensconced in their delusions that nothing can penetrate them. The reality is many, maybe most, liberals understand on some level they are being lied to by the media, but they like being lied to, as long as their beliefs are reinforced and their enemies (the right) are the object of the media’s efforts at destruction.

The Fox News story on this spent the first several paragraphs talking about why Project Veritas is untrustworthy and about the controversy over mail in ballots and then spent literally one short paragraph describing in the most vague terms possible what was actually in the videos.
