Christ, knowing you couldn’t, came to the earth in a human body and lived the perfect life. He took your sins to that cross and suffered God’s wrath on your behalf, paid off, you are free of guilt if you will simply believe what he did for you on the cross. If you reject this gift you are trampling his gift underfoot.

My point is you cannot be righteous when you have sinned against a holy God. You can repent and turn from sin, but you are incapable of being righteous apart from Christ’s righteousness given to you when you accept what he did for you on the cross.

Good news: Christ took your wages to the cross to satisfy God’s demand for justice if you will simply repent and believe in him as your atonement. Christ suffered God’s wrath so you do not have to; a holy, innocent, just man, God in the flesh, who for the joy before him took on this task.
You merely accept his propitiation for your sins on your behalf.
This isn’t a one time deal, where one accepts and moves on however. If you find you can accept this and nothing changes in your life, beware.
