My first time I was maybe 14 years old and dad turned it on while driving around town and I remember Rush was playing a parody of “Layla” (I liked Eric Clapton’s song a lot and had never heard parody/satire) — parody was about Donna Shalala: “Shalala...got Bill on his knees, Shalala...ba...dum...dum, begging’ darlin’ please, Shalala.”
Dad was a regular listener who sold real estate in remote areas (and had the best mobile bag phones he could buy). Drove a white Jeep Grand. Wagoneer with wood panels and I’m sure listened to all 3 hours of Rush every day when he could.
I had a Rush 24/7 subscription in college for about 2 years during end of Bush era and beginning of 2007-2008 election.
There will never be another Rush, but I think Mark Steyn is EXCELLENT and like Rush is also a man of conviction with a top tier satirical wit.
