Sen. Bernie Sanders speaks about the middle class in America disappearing due to an unbalanced treatment in taxation between the ultra wealthy and the working class. He lists a few statistics to help support his claim the top one percent made twenty three and half percent of all income generated, ten percent of the top one percent made twelve cents for every dollar made in America and majority on consumer products are being imported; mainly from China. I agree that previous to the current year's administration's trade policy were not favorably to American workers. I certainly believe the reason he spoke about these things in the same speech is he believes they are related and I would agree. I believe the fact that Americans with large sums of wealth are not dumb. They will not make investments that do not see gains. Therefore in my opinion it's irrational to assume that these people would invest their money into marketplaces that have less gains than perhaps other international choices. I believe that this speech is relevant in today's economic world because we have seen President Donald Trump's trade policy in action. Over the course of his presidency his position on valuing the American worker and establishing trade policies that are reciprocal have shown to be effective. American median income has gone up significantly every year. I think the fact that this is true also speaks to the idea that American elites are very willing to invest in America when it makes financial sense, I do not expect myself or anyone else to risk their finances in order to virtue signal. You can see this exact position with Bernie Sanders himself who is a millionaire. I believe he most likely does not see himself as an economic predator either. Individual or corporations cannot be held responsible for bad policy. I've attached an article that shows median income has risen over the recent years.
