The point of that video was to realize that immigration was not a solution to the problem of global poverty. Immigration should be done selfishly. If there's a team with Michael Jordan and 4 other players that can barely dribble a ball, then you are god damn right that I'm going to Jordan to come onto my team even if it makes that other team even worse.
Population growth is the single most important factor in overall economic growth. If you want your economy to grow, then you need to grow your population at the highest sustainable rate.
This is the basis for immigration. It's supposed to be entirely SELF SERVING and have nothing to do with being a benefit to the person who is immigrating. You use immigration as a supplement to your general population growth (death's over births).
But here's the kicker, immigration is an investment. You have to invest into immigrants in order to get the return on investment for migrating them. This is where MERIT BASED IMMIGRATION comes into play. If a persons immigration is done through merit, they can IMMEDIATELY give a return on the investment. If a persons immigration is NOT done through immigration, it can take up to 3 generations before they even start providing a return on the investment.
This is about business, not morals. If you want to grow your business, in this case the US economy, then you need good returns on your investments. If you pick bad investments, you pay for it for years.

I don't think it's possible to rationally say that humans aren't contributing to climate change. There's plenty of evidence that confirms that humans have an impact when you account for all factors. Where the evidence fails is saying that humans have a non-trivial impact on climate change.
