I do. Close friend of the family was diagnosed last week.
The biggest display of love and bravery in the world, to come down here in the fullest of flesh, fully human, with all our ability to feel pain and suffering, and then to CHOOSE to take our well deserved punishment for us, to be beaten and whipped and sliced open for hours, then, while bleeding out, to carry his hundred pound cross a few thousand feet, to then have spikes driven through parts of his body, to then hang helpless for hours, struggling to breath, lips cracking from dehydration, to then get stabbed by a spear and eventually die, in our place.
Not once did he curse at his attackers, instead he prayed for them. He desired that they be forgiven. The whole point of the Cross was so that we may all be forgiven, if we choose to be. We don't deserve heaven, we don't deserve forgiveness, but both are available to us for free now, as a gift, but only if we choose to reach out and accept the gift.
I pray that you choose to accept the gift purchased by the bravery of Jesus.
