I mean, that doesn't really work though. You have an undefined split ticket number, not 0%. If every single person votes straight R, then there would be no split tickets at all. I get the idea behind that, but given the large population sizes, you wouldn't see direct linear relationships, unless every hardcore Trump fan = registered R = Vote Straight ticket. I think its less of an assumption to say that the distributions in question would establish themselves more naturally (such as the example they showed where there was no clearly defined linear relationship). I'll check out the video and get back to you though. I want to watch it before I make a commitment to my position.
