I did resist months ago and got kicked out and banned from a grocery store by the police for not wearing a mask, despite claiming a medical reason. The people in charge literally don't give a shit about your reasons anymore, they expect you to toe the line, at least here in MD.
This graffiti was taken down not long after the photo was taken, but there's now two billboards that have been graffiti'd across with similar messages. Saw them on the way back from work yesterday and earlier today.
One said 'Turn off the media; Turn on your minds' and the other said 'Wake up, Covid is about control, not health' or something along those lines. Wish I could've gotten a picture, but I didn't feel like stopping in the middle of the rain.
It's pretty sad. I'm glad at least that the places I work at are run by fellow Trump supporters who don't like masks either, even if it doesn't always stop us from not wearing them because we don't want to get the cops called on our businesses, but that's just something I've gotta deal with in my line of work, I guess. I know most of the people I work with would like to burn the damn things just as much as I do, so hopefully soon we can all get back to normal.
Here in Westminster, MD, I was escorted out of a Giant by a cop due to not wearing a mask, despite claiming a medical condition. The manager made up some bull about her telling me multiple times to wear a mask, despite not a single person approaching me about not wearing a mask before that visit. I wasn't arrested, thankfully, but the cop gave me an ultimatum: Leave the store or get arrested, so I left. I'm banned from that store now too, though I can't think of a good reason I'd ever go back there again.
If it weren't for all the fucking mandates here and the threats to get the police involved, I wouldn't wear a mask at all while shopping, but until MD stops being deficient in basic intelligence, I have to deal with it if I don't feel like getting banned from more stores.
I did for a short time, but then I got kicked out and banned from my local Giant for doing so by the police, despite claiming a medical condition that would prevent me from wearing one. So to my constant aggravation, I begrudgingly wear one when shopping now just to avoid getting banned from all the stores nearby. Living in a red county in a blue state is not fun.
I do think that some of the seasons have a couple writing issues, but overall there's nothing there that hampers my enjoyment of the story and characters and music. I definitely wouldn't say anyone in the cast is gay, but it's hard to deny that there's some yuri-bait here and there throughout the series. I think that's just how Japan be sometimes, though.
It's great to see more pedes who like Symphogear, though. Even though XV ended pretty conclusively, I do wish we'd get more of it someday, even if it's not necessarily more anime. Maybe a game somewhere down the line that's not another mobile gacha that gets its global release canned so early.
If you haven't seen it, I absolutely recommend Symphogear. It's one of those series that I don't know how I missed out on it until after the final season aired, and I regret not being able to participate in the discussions around it when the series was airing. It's not really a bastion of amazing storytelling, but its presentation is fantastic and the music is phenomenal. It's sort of comparable to Gurren Lagann or Kill La Kill, in that it's more about over-the-top spectacle and 'rule of cool' more than something more grounded.
As far as storytelling goes, the first half of Kado: The Right Answer was amazing, but it's a damn shame that it ended up trainwrecking as hard as it did. I still recommend it, partially to see how good a story of its kind can be and partially to see how a great idea can fail so hard thanks to corporate shenanigans.
I live in MD too. I wish it weren't so, but you're probably correct. I'm glad that the people I work for here are on board the Trump Train too, but in my line of work, that doesn't keep me from needing to wear a face-diaper on an annoyingly regular basis.
I'm just hoping Trump pulls everything off that he needs to so we can get back to ACTUAL normal, not this 'new normal' bull.
Did my part, voted for mah boi.
It was shockingly quick. I expected to be there for hours, but I was in and out in like 15 minutes. Maybe I just got there at a good time, who knows. Dunno whether my vote here in MD will do a whole lot, but at least I can say I played my part.
Didn't help me. I got kicked out and banned from my local Giant when I went in sans mask, claiming a medical condition. The manager called the cops to escort me out, and even made up some bull about how she'd talked to me before about not wearing a mask in the store despite it being only the second time I'd been in that store without a mask, and no one even approached me about it the first time.
With that said, it probably depends on your state laws how anal people will be about it. I guess here in MD, a lot of folks are tight-assed.
Exactly this. My entire family got Covid a few months back after going on vacation. My mother and sister were basically fine, but I ended up in the hospital for a week with both Covid and pneumonia, and my father (who had a wide variety of health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and so on) also ended up in the hospital for a week before he passed away. Is it sad? Absolutely. Would I prefer that my father didn't die? Of fucking course. But does it change the scientific evidence we have on hand, from multiple sources, that state that Covid is basically a nothing burger for the overwhelming majority of people who will come into contact with it? Does it change the scientific studies we've had for decades that show that masks are basically useless against viruses? Does it change the fact that our world needs to return to normal now that we've not only got multiple countermeasures against the symptoms Covid creates, but we've got herd immunity that only grows larger every day?
Abso-fucking-lutely not.
I got kicked out and banned from my local Giant for shopping without a mask a couple weeks ago. The manager called the police, lied about having told me before that I needed to wear a mask in the store (literally only the second time I'd gone into that store maskless, and the first time no one said anything to me at all) regardless of any health conditions I had, and had the cop escort me out and told me I wasn't welcome back in.
Thanks Maryland.
She might make others, though.
