By the time you factor in all the efficiency drops from the plant where the power was produced all the way through the grid, through the converter to charge your car, and then through all the losses in the Electric car... I'd wager the advantage is slim. It's really more about saving money than power. If the cost to charge your car is less than the cost to fill with gas you save money. That is usually the case. Electric cars don't save the planet. They can save money.
