Homo-Erectus in Europe evolved into Neanderthals and Homo-Erectus in the Levant evolved into Homo-Sapiens. Homo-Sapien then mated with Neanderthals in Europe.
Homo-Erectus in Asia mated with Denisovan, which split off from an even earlier subspecies, and then Homo-Sapien mated with that combination in Asia. Then there's several migrations of Homo-Sapien going out of Europe and into Asia over many thousands of years bringing Neanderthal DNA with them, and then Ghangis Khan invaded Europe and brought even more of the European combination back into Asia.

In evolutionary biology the purpose of the category of species is to identify groups that can reproduce with each other due to their genetic similarities.
