The death penalty should be for a LOT more than murder. Think about it. What the death penalty says, at its heart, is that the convicted person simply can’t be allowed to function in society anymore.
In the past that meant death or banishment. Now, that means death or life in prison. But most folks don’t spend life in prison, and maintaining any kind of prison population is a drag on the community anyway.

This. I’ve also lived in black neighborhoods and I can tell that I was always made to feel excluded. Black folks often go to great lengths to distance themselves from whites. Many see themselves as a separate nation. Black kids get beaten up for acting white, or having white names, or listening to white music. Outside of even the Chinese I’ve never seen a group that was as openly and casually racist as most black folks.
