I really, really dislike that teaching.... because every church has it!! However, Mormons take it to a whole new level, and pay for it dearly: Utah Mormons are a very depressed bunch, statistically, and there’s a correlation between believing you’re the only true people/church and feeling hopeless in some random study I read ages ago (so don’t quote me). I try to universalize the LDS teachings, and see how I believe it’s right for myself because I live in Utah in America... I don’t necessarily think it’s right for Hindus in India or Muslims in Saudi Arabia.
