NYC cop: "He fell on his hip? From where?" Idiot: "Uhhh. His hip." Cop: "He fell from his hip?"

Glad to see my point was not lost on someone. See my reply to the person you replied to for details. Weird how some people read or hear things that were not said.

I'm so white I quote George Carlin all the time saying "I go out in the sun to neutralize the blue." Grew up in a slimy major city akin to the NYC portrayed in Taxi Driver (1976) and covered neighborhoods of all kinds on the reg. Was a small kid and got mugged a handful of times growing up, not once in a "bad neighborhood" and mostly by other "white people." Now I live in another city, and there are areas of all kinds of demographics I won't even drive through, let alone walk. OTOH, some of my favorite BBQ and soul food joints are in lower income majority black neighborhoods, and my Spidey sense never tingles.

Not sure what that has to do with my point, i.e. insert the terms "deaf," "gay," or "gamer" in the first two blank spots. Please explain. If you think I somehow said bad neighborhoods do not exist, I am not sure how to help you.

A local TV station aired kaiju movies every Saturday afternoon when I was a kid and I have fond memories of watching them with my dad. You could say I grew up with Godzilla, Gamera and their friends from Toho Studios. I know those movies are not high art, and the majority could be placed in the "so bad they're good" category, but they were at least a source of some entertainment. Wouldn't put it on a sworn affidavit, but pretty sure I've seen just about all of them, including the recent blockbuster attempts. All this to say that this might be the least entertaining one of all. I wouldn't even recommend pirating it, let alone giving money to Hollywood. If you've never seen it, the original King Kong (1933) is actually fantastic, and if you don't appreciate the classics yet, the next best one is Shin Gojira (2016), imo.

On a side note, I wonder how many millions the CCP chipped in to ensure the city that got trashed was Hong Kong...?

Newsflash: there is no such thing as "the _____ community." If you think all _____ people are _____, you are ______.

While it is true in general English conversation saying someone "killed themselves" implies intended suicide, nobody else currently living on this planet is directly responsible for his current status. Accidental ODs happen.

*smacks forehead - Oh right, the communist plot to destabilize the republic via a propaganda-fueled color revolution sowing division between various perceived oppressor/oppressed group identities!

Since it does unfortunately appear that facts and reason are less effective than propaganda in the culture war, I bet this idea would actually help the 2A more than correcting people that the "A" is for Armalite every f'ing time.

No. It's quite common to give Eastern and Pacific time zones, at least. The US has six major time zones, and [eleven] total, including territories, some observing daylight savings time, and some not, so it also depends on your location which time zones are announced. What's really annoying is when an event announces one time and does not specify which time zone it's in.

Same. It's a delicate dynamic in any work environment when one is "better" ([by] any criteria) than one's boss, especially when you like the job and/or the boss.

Did [it] look like he was reading many of his answers from notes on the podium to anyone else? *scratches head

I watched his coverage of the VP debate last year and had the same thoughts. I made the decision to watch the Pres. debate raw in the hopes it would be less annoying than Crowder. I was wrong, and now watch Crowder live and then any important clips after. Not to mention Dave Landau is a fantastic addition to the show.

[spez] May have mixed up the order of the debates. *shrug Also forgot to add I've been a long time Hodgetwins fan, pretty much since I first read the damn /fit/ sticky, so I love that they're based and regs on LWC.

Fascinating. Not just your post, this entire thread, or even how refreshing a feeling it is to have an adult conversation about an adult topic without the kids interrupting. I mean it's interesting to see someone do something I do all the time: I often type "ration" too, when I fully intended to type the word "ratio." I usually rationalize it as my fingers "getting ahead of themselves." Sometimes I'l be typing fast and I'll use a word and think "I don't know how to spell that, and yet my fingers apparently do. Go figure.
