There is a certain historical thought that posits revolutions generally don't happen when people are oppressed by a much more powerful class, rather, they occur when the much more powerful class that is doing the oppressive serves no positive function in society. In other words, dictators can dictate, so long as they are perceived as strong. When they are considered useless, revolutions have always followed.
