If you haven't seen this, you will probably like it. There a lot of heroes that quietly have made things better. We need to make them visible, too.
What also separates us from the Left is I can be on the same team as you and respect your different point of view. Look at the current "thought leaders" in the Democratic party: AOC? She is a spoiled rich kid who has never slept in a tent less a night without food. Biden, he's gone... Bernie, he is a communist. But back in MLK's time, the walk and non-violent show of solidarity is what, in part, got people to listen. The young man Lewis was more of an idealist then. But time in the swamp and never-ending graft and corruption of the Democratic party was his price for progress. I wonder in later life if he felt it was worth it to sell his soul to the devil?
As the title says, he was human and had issues. I agree that later in life his politics were nearly unbearable, but on that day, he was making a positive difference. He did, as a young man, and at a time of great unrest in America, help with writing the speech that should be taught to EVERY child in school. MLK thought that Lewis was coming on too strong in the text then, and would endanger the non-violent approach that was part of King's success. So he changed Lewis's words. But he was an active part of making change for the better during a time of great unrest in America. This is what Scalise is writing about. Think about it, Scalise was shot by a Left-wing nut job, and he is acknowledging John Lewis efforts in 1964.
